A bipartisan group just introduced the Hot Rotisserie Chicken Act. SNAP currently bans hot prepared foods, so a family can buy a raw chicken with food stamps but not the $7 cooked one that would feed four of them tonight.

Trump’s odds of pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell jumped from 7% to 22% on Polymarket this week, and House Oversight chair James Comer says his committee is split on recommending it in exchange for her testimony. Maxwell is serving 20 years for child sex trafficking; her lawyer says a pardon is likely.

The Trump administration just sent a new SSI rule to OMB that would count a disabled person’s bedroom—plus any income or assets their family has—as a resource and deduct it from their monthly check. It would push hundreds of thousands of seniors and disabled adults off benefits.

The Supreme Court just gutted the Voting Rights Act, ruling 6-3 to strike down a Black-majority congressional district and leaving Section 2—in Justice Kagan’s words—“all but a dead letter.” The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act is back in both chambers; only Congress can rebuild this.
