One under discussed aspect of Johnson is he wasn't in the House very long, he was only elected in '16 with Trump. All he knows is a Trump dominated Hill. It has prevented him from looking beyond this term. He's been a horrible Speaker who has weakened his institution.

Seeing those Senate numbers makes me rethink my position on preferring this map. Ds would've been competitive in the 3rd district but it would've been more of an uphill battle than I realized. Might as well take the one safe seat and call it a day.

This isn't an improvement. The legislature's map (their attempt to respond to a prior ruling) was a classic dummymander, it had an R+1 and an R+6 seat and Dems were very likely to pick up both next year. Now they get one packed D+24 safe seat. This takes a likely 2-2 map and makes it 3-1.

Even if the latter 3 go through with it, we're likely to have a net wash by the end of the cycle. What a waste of time rearranging the deck chairs.
