Given the diversity of ways author order is chosen between fields, they should modify this so that your credit for a paper is a random number chosen from the number of authors on the paper and it changes every time you reload google scholar, that would be a more valid metric than this horseshit.

At every step, it seems like the vast majority of them do nothing positive with their power, whether that power is real or perceived.

Are these people living on another fucking planet? What opportunities, specifically, comes from effectively no research funding, closing our doors to international students, and political meddling in universities?
