Just out in Social Networks w. @snannabell.bsky.social: The Duality of Network Ties and Attributes. As part of the special issue on duality, we argue that the principle applies to multi-modal network data. It allows relating different types of tie and other dyadic attributes. 1/3

We illustrate the principle with a multiple correspondence analysis of 15 sociometric nominations (interpersonal relations, interest / aversion to collaborations in mathematics and physical education), foci-of-activity, individual attributes, and attribute combinations in eight school classes. 2/3

Apart from the relative meanings of nominations, we analyze the meanings of one-sided nominations for friendship and sympathy. Our analysis points to one-sided nominations marking weaker ties than reciprocated ones, rather than asymmetric interest among class mates. 3/3
