This is a thought I have been having as well recently. I think the prime motivator for making games should be the love for games and creation. There's examples where people with a heart for games and craft take charge, but too often it's skews towards those having a heart for money instead.

If one is at the fear of losing their career all the time, one is less likely to be honest, communicative and bold in the way they approach things. You gotta have an environment where people can have a space to try, fail and learn, and where they can communicate about their struggles and improve.

So sad for all the Bungie folks, another dark day for the game industry seeing so many people's livelihood being taken away by corporate greed. Often, game developers spent their entire life building their craft. It's so sad, to see people who put so much passion in their craft being dismissed.

Our games industry is people. Our studios are people. Our teams people, our games by people for people. Our games are made by people, in groups of people, in teams of people, making people things for people. The magic is people, and the people deserve so much better than all this. I am so sorry.
