I’m reading an excerpt of my manuscript tonight to an art collective—except I’m not. Someone else will. I won’t even be there. I’ll be picking my dog up from the Vet that despite having the dog and a scheduled appointment didn’t manage to do her surgery. I’m so calm, it’s even creeping me out.

This is my friend Iain, a Scot living in London. He's got 4 million times as much musical talent as I do, and so if you get a chance, give him a few minutes of your time. He's really good.

Michael had a horrible night None of us slept. Clinic is going to be insane because of all of our weather closures and Beni’s is having surgery tomorrow. Me: time to cancel all my plans go into survival mode. Twenty minutes later, I’m making a pineapple rice stir fry. Why am I like this? #BWG

After a shit-show of a day, I was making dinner and Michael’s dad didn’t know what enchiladas were. I told him they’re wet tacos 🌮 So that concludes one of the most miserable days of my life. #BWG

I *think* I'm ready for the ice storm. Everyone has their medications. We have ice melt, flashlights, a camp stove, and snacks. I do not have a battery bank. If we do lose power tonight/tomorrow and my mom calls you, please tell her I'm safe and warm, and I'll call her when the power comes back on.

I have a job that is designed to be emotionally and physically exhausting. I could have picked an easier field of care, but I chose the frontlines of public health. I chose the team that chose me, not just for what I can do, but for who I am. I work with great people. #grateful

In my alone life, I wake at 4 am. I walk the dog in the dark. I drive to work in the same green scrubs, saying the same thing, ‘just shut the fuck up and do your job.’ But I get there and forget. I laugh and tell jokes all day. In my alone life, I drive home telling myself I'll do better tomorrow.

I accidentally called 911 today. My coworker, ‘it happens, we live in an unfortunate area code.’

I have lived here for 20 months and made zero friends of my own. I joined a gym. I took classes. I volunteered. I got a job. I have numerous new acquaintances, but no real friends. And this is why I'm watching The Great British Baking Show at 6 am, to feel like I have friends. It's a thing.
