NEW HOMELESSNESS DATA from MHCLG on the number of homeless children and households in Temporary Accommodation. October - December 2025: 176,130 children and 134,210 households.

New data from @ncmd.bsky.social reveals that 104 children have died with temporary accommodation indicated as a contributing factor to their vulnerability, ill health, or death between 2019-2025. 76 were under the age of 1. "We should all be outraged by these figures." - Dame Siobhain McDonagh MP

We thank our APPG member @paulabarkermp.bsky.social, who also co-chairs the APPG for Ending Homelessness, for tabling this important debate. We are shocked at the revelation of children being forced to sleep rough and welcome the Minister's proactive response @allymcgovern.bsky.social

Yesterday, @drrosena.bsky.social raised a question at PMQs about the suitability of temporary accommodation and the impact on children's health and mortality. All children deserve to grow up in a safe and secure home, and temporary accommodation standards should be regulated.

We met with the Minister for Homelessness @allymcgovern.bsky.social at the APPG on Ending Homelessness to discuss the National Plan to End Homelessness. We will continue to work with the Government to action the Strategy's bold targets, such as eliminating the use of B&Bs for families and children.
