I think there's a misconception that Jared McCain's performance this year was about cold shooting. His three-point shooting was almost identical to last year. The problem was that every other facet of his offensive game went off a cliff.

yeah...not buying this one. i'm sure there are *some* moves they would've made. but i don't buy they were primarily trying to improve in the short term. this is the thing you say to smooth things over with Maxey, Embiid, etc.

At the risk of angering some already-angry fans... I do think there's some cognitive dissonance between saying "we want to build around VJ and Tyrese" AND "I'm mad we didn't invest more assets into this year's team."

Two big takeaways for me after this Sixers deadline: 1.) They do not think this team is good enough to make a deep playoff run. 2.) Joel Embiid holds *much* less sway within the organization than he once did.

Jared McCain is an interesting fit for the Thunder...a rare weak link on defense. But if there was a team that could insulate him defensively and really unleash his on-ball potential...the Thunder are the team He could be phenomenal there (if he crack the rotation).

Cleveland's structural problem is they play two non-shooting bigs. It helps them on defense. It makes offense tricky. There are a handful of players in the NBA who routinely make funky lineups work because they're such elite passers. Harden's one of those handful.

It's getting increasingly hard to be a James Harden defender. But we've been tested like this before...and we will find a way

I feel bad for Embiid and Maxey but I don’t think you can responsibly spend assets to make this team better in the short term. It was already an edge case. Now you’re likely looking at a play-in bid followed by — at best — a tough first round matchup.

Mike O'Connor articulates something here that I've been mulling for a while. I've seen a lot of ppl say Maxey-VJ are your backcourt for the next 10 years. And frankly...I don't agree. They may have a three-ish year peak together...assuming Maxey can maintain and VJ improves quickly.

I do not think the Sixers will do anything serious on Giannis...but this is an interesting snapshot moment to see what ppl think of VJ. As much as I love him, I think he's unlikely to make more than 2-3 all-star teams. In overall impact he feels much more like a Jrue Holiday type player.
