On the execution in Minnesota: Obviously, the individuals involved should be held accountable. But responsibility goes to the top of ICE and CBP, and DHS. Their appropriations come up next week in the senate. Not a cent for DHS without pulling ICE and CBP off the streets, in MN and everywhere else.

Just finished The Grimoire Grammar School Parent Teacher Association by Caitlin Rozakis. This was a fun story about parents trying to navigate caring for their newly-werewolf daughter that balanced comedy & commentary pretty well but did have a bit of clunky writing. 4.25 stars. #BookSky #resding

Just finished The Gone World by Tom Sweterlitsch. This was a very high concept book revolving around the quantum nature of time travel and cosmic horror but managed to remain a gripping and thrilling read. 4.75 stars. #BookSky #reading

This man is either unwilling or perhaps is so narcissistic he’s unable to feel sympathy for anyone who doesn’t like him and it is absurd how obvious that is.

I checked out a copy of Dragonology from the library for nostalgia reasons and realized reading through it there’s a reference to the Abramelin ritual and John Dee is cited as an early dragonologist. Fun to see early hyperfixations of mine reflect future ones. #WitchSky #occult #BookSky

Just finished The Secrets of Dr. Taverner by Dion Fortune. This was a decent collection of Doylesque occult mystery stories, even if they at times felt quite dated as one might expect from a 1930’s work. Overall 4 stars. #BookSky #reading #WitchSky

Just finished Heresy by S.J. Parris. This murder mystery starring real life alchemist Giodarno Bruno as the Renaissance era detective had a solid core story but did feel like a bit of a slog to read. I gave it 3.5 stars. #BookSky #reading

Read a lot this weekend-the first book I finished was The Word for World is Forest by Ursula K. Le Guin. This was a compellingly written and philosophically rich story that hooked me very strongly. 4.75 stars. #BookSky #reading

They want it formally dead, but NATO is already functionally dead as a geopolitical reality. Even if he backs down (wouldn't bet on it), there's no going back from sending European capitals into a spiraling panic that the US is seriously about to invade one of them. You can't unring that bell.

Abolish ICE. Really.

Insofar as there ever was a non-MAGA ICE (which I personally am dubious on), the rot is deep enough there is no salvaging this agency. If you want to build something new to oversee immigration/customs enforcement that can be discussed later, but ICE itself can’t be redeemed.

What ICE did today in Minnesota is simultaneously a horrific tragedy and 100% something that was thoroughly predictable from their preexisting brutality and unaccountability. The agency must be abolished and its agents prosecuted. There is no alternative.

ICE shot a legal observer in the face in Minneapolis. Abolish ICE and prosecute every single one of their deputized terrorists.

My school’s American flag feels…symbolic of the state of things.

Just finished reading The Time Machine by H.G. Wells. It’s easy to tell how this book became a classic and lots of it still holds up. Parts of it of course are naturally dated (including the writing style). I gave it 4.25 stars. #BookSky #reading
