The Monday preceding May 24th (the birthday of Queen Victoria) is “Victoria Day” in Canada, the official birthday of the Sovereign (King Charles’ birthday is actually in November) and the unofficial start of the summer season. /1

Finally got a seat at L’Avenue for brunch. Wear off-white. ✅ Order pancakes dripping with blueberry compote and lemon curd. ✅ (So far…so good.)

The great thing about being Canadian is using “u” in a lot of words to annoy Americans but also spelling “apologize” and “realize” with a “z” to annoy Brits (but pronouncing the letter “zed” to, once again, annoy Americans).
