The Columbus Blue Jackets played last night and then hopped on a plane, getting to their hotel early in the morning, but the #NHLJets are doing their part. Less than a minute to go, up 5-2, and the pressure's still on.

Filth. The level of filth on that Kyle Connor short side snipe. Banked it off of Elvis' head and in to make it 4-1 #NHLJets.

Neal Pionk. It's 3-1 #NHLJets on a power play blast set up by Gustav Nyquist.

Josh Morrissey drives the net and Mark Scheifele throws him a bullet pass for a back door tap in. Beautiful play from two of Winnipeg's top players, complete with neutral zone criss-cross, to make it 2-1 #NHLJets.

Miles Wood straps on the rocketboots, beats Dylan DeMelo to a long distance flip pass, and goes backhand fivehole on Eric Comrie. It's 1-1 late in the 1st.

Clever mid-dangle adjustment from Jonathan Toews to turn a broken moment into a Vladislav Namestnikov chance. My read was that Toews lost his handle a moment but outthought the CBJ D and poked it to Vladdy.

Play Espresso. Adam Lowry has his first goal of the 2025-26 season and it's here at Canada Life Centre.

Josh Morrissey seems like a Team Canada lock. Mark Scheifele's October propelled him up the charts. ALSO: Gabriel Vilardi and Cole Perfetti were on Team Canada's long list, as I understand it. I don't expect either to be on this updated list.

Humbled at Honda Center. The #NHLJets were looking for a bounceback but got beaten on the boards, in open ice, and in front of the net. Ducks looked great. 0-3-0 on the road trip so far, outscored 9-2 by Los Angeles, San Jose, and Anaheim.

Cutter Gauthier's goal does not count. The situation room determines the Ducks were offside on entry. No chicken for Honda Center.

Ducks up 4-1 and cruising but they've spotted the #NHLJets a power play with 8:17 to go in the third. Jansen Harkins puts a puck over the glass (and is unhappy with the call.)

Now it's 4-1. Leo Carlsson buries on the power play after the Ducks work the puck around, stretching Kyle Connor and Luke Schenn out of structure.

Winnipeg trails Anaheim 3-1 after 40 minutes. Kyle Connor's goal is his 600th career point, offering the Jets a milestone but not fixing what ails Winnipeg's 5-on-5 game.

The Lowry line is trying so obviously hard. They've earned Winnipeg another power play and, based on its effort on that last goal against, the first unit shouldn't get to start this.

Ducks strike back and it's Beckett Sennecke with his second goal of the game. Winnipeg started that shift with an offensive zone draw but got stuck in their own end before Sennecke got onto a Cutter Gauthier rebound.

Jets have looked alive for a moment here, albeit interrupted by the TV timeout. It started with a heavy, forechecking shift and a couple of chances for Alex Iafallo, Nino Niederreiter, and Adam Lowry.

Kyle Connor. The Jets pull within one. Takes a pass from Josh Morrissey and buries from the slot.

Mason McTavish rings one off the crossbar. Ducks still looking good early in the second period.

Winnipeg was frustrated with its game in San Jose. Made a point of wanting to address puck management, transition, and battle level. Now it's 2-0 Ducks after 20 minutes in Anaheim and the Ducks have created scoring chances 5-on-5, shorthanded, and on the power play.

2-0 Ducks. It's the red hot Leo Carlsson burying Troy Terry's smart pass out of the slot with Eric Comrie moving.

1-0 Ducks here at Honda Center. The #NHLJets got worked in their own zone on the same shift they gave up a 2-on-1 for free. Beckett Sennecke finished off a play where it seemed like every Duck played a part. Great pass from Cutter Gauthier to tee it up and Drew Helleson prior.

Cole Perfetti makes his season debut tonight in Anaheim.

Cole Perfetti took morning skate with Jonathan Toews and Vladislav Namestnikov, as per Mitch Clinton, and also took reps on Winnipeg's top power play. Sure seems like Arniel ended up hearing good news 👀

Scott Arniel says that Cole Perfetti is getting "closer" but needs a full practice first. Today's practice was optional. Yesterday and tomorrow will be morning skates, so not a lot of contact. Look for a fully attended, fully physical practice before 91 makes his return.

Three non-contact jerseys on the ice for the #NHLJets today: Dylan Samberg, Morgan Barron, and Gustav Nyquist. Cole Perfetti is in a regular jersey, as he was at morning skate yesterday.

A few words, if you will permit them, about a dear friend named Robert Reimer. He argued with me about this but I think we met when he was three and I was five. (He says two and four.) The last time I saw him was last week, at Deer Lodge, where he fought his chronic illness.
