I think the part that sucks the most about Steam's NSFW guidelines is it puts developers who have ANY NSFW content in their games into that weird spot that fan games occupy where they are basically forced to develop their game in secret and release only when it's ready to avoid censorship.

Also the "it's just placeholders" argument doesn't hold up when those placeholders invariably end up in the final product. E33 got caught with AI textures, a number of games got caught with prompt instructions being left in their localization, etc. AI will ALWAYS affect the final product.

I would rather your indie game include the most ill-fitting public domain song you could find as opposed to your indie game using AI for the music. Stock assets exist to help devs with gaps in their skillset and there are tons of completely free to use stock assets out there, USE THEM.

Why big corporations are pushing for AI harder than ever: Now that they've fired you all and realized that AI isn't actually as good as it was promised to be, they're desperately dumping billions into it because they're also realizing how much it will cost to rehire a full workforce if it fails.
