At the Greenwich Overview & Scrutiny Panel we had the privilege of sharing why it matters so deeply for us that Greenwich is a Borough of Sanctuary. We spoke about what sanctuary means for us at Creating Ground, and for us personally as residents and migrant women who call this borough home. 🌱✨

On Friday we switched off lights at SET Woolwich and switched on lights at GWest Community & Arts Centre. It felt like going back to our roots in a year where we will be thinking of growing deeper, being more rooted whilst reaching higher ✨️♥️

What a performance! 👏🏼👏🏼 Today we watched the amazing Citizens of the World Choir at the House of Lords. Our own talented members, Karen and Ijeoma, sang together with the group 🎶. The event marked the end of Refugee Week celebrations and showed how music and poetry can truly bring us together. 🧡🧡🧡

Thanks to University of Greenwich and Erene Kaptani we're exploring playback theatre in our Theatre in Action group, a new tool to use for our social action work. Such an exciting new door opening for us to share stories, reflect and create connections, solutions, awareness and dialogue 🌟

In Creativity for Wellbeing we started to introduce new ideas into our project thanks to the professional development courses through Greenwich Healthier Communities Fund. We are excited to see the impact this will have on our projects and how we use creativity and arts for wellbeing.

Preparing for Refugee Week 2025 with the theme Community As a Superpower in our dance project. We feel we have superpowers in our community to have such strong partnerships with Brookhill Children's Centre and Luca Silvestrini's Protein and many more! Thanks to Greenwich Healthier Communities Fund

For 3 weeks now we’ve been working with yarn. Lian taught us to crochet flowers, we made macrame friendship bracelets and Nirmala showed us another technique. Karen and Philomena created beautiful crocheted hats and decorations encouraging us not to give up if the skills seem to be out of our reach.
