Blizz is, frankly, super weird about blood elves and fel. Thrall's Horde still allowed warlocks, gnomes can summon demons for the Argent Tournament, Eredar can literally join the Alliance. But blood elves are treated as uniquely evil for using fel out of desperation & trauma from a near genocide.
