My hot take: Steven Guilbeault should run for the leadership of the NDP. Not often a winning party, but one with a long history of principle and leaders who walk the talk.

This is a rant into the void: I CAN'T STAND IT when websites and apps push a bunch of pop-ups, and did you know about our new thing, when all I wanted to do was the thing I logged on to do! Leave me alone and don't make me click 3 irrelevant things before I can do what I came here to do. Thanks.

Can we petition Pierrefonds-Roxboro to demerge? I really don't see how people who live 45 minutes from downtown have a say in how the city is run. It wouldn't change the outcome today -we're cooked- but still.

This is from a hike earlier this fall, in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. Mont Ham. You can't tell from my video but the colours were beautiful along the route, especially through Orford and Bromont.

The view from the top of Mont Loup Garou (werewolf mountain, in French) in the Laurentians, this weekend. Yes, it's past peak colours. It's a nice 2-2.5 hour hike through woods and there's a cabin at the top if you want to stop for lunch.

Oh yeah! I did this on Sunday. My plan was to take the kids to Mont St Hilaire but I was too late and all the tickets were sold (darn environmentalists, protecting the darn environment from too many visitors, argh) so I pivoted: a walk up to the Outremont summit of Mount Royal, through the cemetery

Fun stuff happening at Le Rendez-vous, in NDG, Girouard park. There's a bar, an ice cream parlour, food for sale, and sometimes dj dance parties or live bands. Tonight was a lot of fun with some good news bags from

Netflix was pushing Crazy Stupid Love on me, a 2011 movie with Ryan Gosling and Steve Carrell, so I watched it with a friend last night. We had both watched it almost 15 years ago and forgotten most of it. It's fun, but problematic, in the way that a lot of movies can be over time. In particular

Have you biked from Chambly to St Jean sur Richelieu? I see there's a 20km path along the canal, and I'd like to take my kids. Just wondering what stops we might make along the way, if you know the path. Are there places to get food, snacks?

When I see all the micro shorts and bike shorts-as-regular-shorts, I think about women in the 80s and how sad it is that they never got a chance to show their buns of steel in public that way.

2025, wrapped! It was hotter and hazier and more massively packed than days 1&2. Highlight: the view and sounds from the top of the Skip Ferris wheel during the beginning of Olivia Rodrigo's set. Although it may look a little sparse near the Monster tour, you have to understand

Day 1 of Osheaga 2025 ✅🎆 The kids patiently waited for The Killers to play the last song I wanted to dance to: All the things that I have done. They loved their first Osheaga day, so we've got momentum for Day 2. So far we're loving the Skip+ bathrooms (brilliant move) and rest area.
