Found Footage spooky movie October Day 14. We continue with the second Hell House which I actually like. It’s not perfect but I think they find a cool angle that keeps it fun.

Found footage spooky movie October day 11! One of the few sequels that is better than the original. It does require knowledge of the first movie but once it gets going the subversion keeps you guessing to the very end.

Sailor Moon S is such a huge quality jump. Storyline, characterization, attack and transformation animation, and just the overall fashion of almost every character in the show. Some days it’s a melancholy, a deep still lake with currents that move deep beneath the surface. And I find myself sinking as I ask myself why I am doing any of this? Why do I keep trying? What is the point? Why not let myself just sink into this feeling?

Two hours in and Silent Hill F has understood the assignment. It feels like a Silent Hill game even as it skews heavily toward its Japanese setting. Loving it so far!

The older I get the more I find myself gravitating toward Alan Moore and Grant Morrison works. I’m really into comics that like playing with both the expectations of comics as well as exploring what comics can be. Also looking at a comic mythos and saying “all this is fair game to play with”.

Once Sailor Moon R hits the Black Moon Arc the show really finds its footing. The attacks are all better, the story line is more interesting, and they start playing around with doing more than the formula in episodes. The first season holds up but after the Makai Tree is when the show brings it.

Thinking on the time and cost of animation (especially at the time) it's kinda impressive how many different outfits everyone wears in the 90's Sailor Moon anime.
