See you in the Major Leagues...

I remastered, re-lettered, rewrote and old comic just to see if I could. In making things a bit less transgressive, I think I got closer to the heart of the story I wanted to tell. Completely free on itch

Sonic Adventure 2 (DC) Just awful. The worst thing a bad game can be is challenging. SA1 papered over so much of its similar jank by being easy. You could stumble your way to the next set piece and just enjoy the vibes. The sequel seems to want you to execute actions with rhythm game precision.

Metal Slug (NEO) Everything the series would become is here though I miss the Sci-Fi silliness of the sequels. Still, I was impressed by how good a run I got on realizing all the enemy attack patterns were patterns the series would later reuse. The joy of blasting through while charging music plays.

Panzer Dragoon Zwei (SAT) As slight a thrill ride as it is, the game's greatest strength is that you can immediately feel that you can get better at it to the point of mastery. The fantastical techno organic aesthetic dazzles, but you are fully grounded in your control of the dragoon and rider.

Returnal (PS5) I saw and did enough to consider this one done. Maybe the most unforgiving though not unfair games I've ever played. Where a single misstep can cost you everything, or worst become the first domino in a slow moving failure, I rode waves of tension and adrenaline I thought lost to me.

Mother 3 (GBA) My first replay in over 15 years and I'm surprised how little I remembered. Even if a lot of that was the JRPG battle grind, it would almost always be offset by a charming or touching moment. Having played the whole series in the last year, this remains the one I think you MUST play.

The Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World (NS2) Primarily an exploration and poking at the edge platformer. Mostly a blast as the zones you explore are gorgeous and never feel repetitive or bland despite the worn abandoned earth aesthetic. An "I feel clever moment" generator puzzle wise.

Marios Picross: Frame by Frame -Jeff Brown
Mario’s Picross is an interesting game because it’s something that could have been a big success in America but never really caught on. When you see something like Tetris become a sensation, which …

45 today. The last 10 years have been me falling through the geometry of the world. This is fine. Most people would gladly rob me blind or cripple me to keep up their delusional dream lives. If where I exist now is cold, empty, and silent; you have no idea the beauty I have come to find there.

See those stickers? That means I tested these at the Ewaste warehouse up to 10 years ago. We couldn’t move em at $30 because they were “dusty.” Now refurbing em to sell at like 10 times the price. Games is a weird business. Wild I have been in it so long.

Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness (N64) I played through the first few levels on original hardware with a standard N64 controller and found the game interesting, but I felt I was always one hand short of controlling the camera. When I tried to pick up the next day I found that my save had corrupted.

Citizen Sleeper (XSX) Everyday I looked at the hand I was dealt and tried to play it to the best of my ability to keep my failing body moving. I bit my lip and crossed my fingers hoping the moves I was making would be enough, would make it in time. Other left, but I stayed. Ohh... yes, the game.

Wario Land (GB) I don't think I have beat it since I was a kid. Masterpiece. In the voice of an Irish SF podcaster, "It's a game about a fat lad who can't run very fast or jump very high, and you'll never believe this, he's greedy." I joke, but the game is so much defined by being NOT Mario.
