I think that there need to be more "kayfabe" history podcasts of fictional universes. Treat the history of the fictional universe as 100% real and as actual history. Take on the role of historian after the events trying to piece things together. Fabricate sources, memoirs, etc. to make it feel real

People in the future will talk about when the Internet changed. They will try to find specific inflection points. Social Media, Youtube, Algorithmic Feeds. My own personal choice is the exact moment that people decided that it was acceptable to launch a new tab when I hit a Login button.

Writing next week's episode about the evacuation of Greece in '41: It is pretty amazing that the British Army just bumbled from failure to failure from Sep 1939-~July 1941 and somehow didn't manage to lose the war. Shoutout to the Royal Navy.

Setting aside good/bad. It is easy to see why LLMs would be a popular way to ask questions about history. You can just ask it about exactly what you want to know, it might ask clarifying questions, then it gives you an answer. Its like Wikipedia without the limitations of existing structure.

I am sure there is some portion of Americans who believe that anything we did in the Second World War is an objectively righteous thing to do in all circumstances

- my take: the us has already lost. there is no way this war can be won unless iran just randomly collapses into revolt, which at this point does not look very likely. the us has caused a global recession via oil shock, wasted a ton of very expensive weapons, and completely wrecked its deterrent.

Every generation since the 1940's has to relearn how hard it is to bomb an enemy into submission. It is just a rule now, I wonder who it will be in the 2040's.

I have been looking at watches the last few days. It is staggering how many WW2 “commemorative” watches there are. There might be more types of Spitfire inspired watches than there were Spitfires in July 1940!

The past two weekends I have read Three Body Problem and Project Hail Mary. Both of which have been tremendous good times. Some truly fantastic Sci-Fi. Now to find the next thing to read.

We were planning to move into a new house this year, and had already started on to "Get this place ready to sell" checklist. Looks like it is the worst time in a long time to try and sell a house. Might have to change plans.

This is not a bad list (of bad aircraft) but I am a huge believer that when discussing "worst" aircraft of WW2 you have to make sure you are drawing a distinction between actively horrible aircraft (like the Brewster Buccaneer) and aircraft that simply were not replaced soon enough like the TB-3
