The Trump administration has set off what's essentially a bomb with the intent to substantially harm almost all of my clients. They're suddenly insisting that almost all immigrants return to their home countries in order to get a green card, instead of doing the process here.

Just me picking a fight with someone running to be my state rep over a state immigration bill. She was under the impression that it only impacted undocumented immigrants, and when I told her that wasn't the case, she disagreed and took the bait.

Sat through an old snippet of Ted R. Callister discussing how wonderful Ben Carson's mother was, and how that shaped Carson, and immediately afterwards discussing with my wife how it's so sad what happened later--that children can make absolutely horrid choices despite a good upbringing.

The Halo games never interested me--but the Halo TV show on Netflix is solid sci-fi action. Smarter than most of what Netflix claims are "cerebral" shows and certainly better than I imagined it would be.

Orson Scott Card came out with Seventh Son in 1987--the first book in a series that is only now being finished, and the inspiration for Iron Maiden's Seventh Son of a Seventh Son in 1988. GRRM can take heart--he still has another 9 years to match OSC's timing of 39 years for a series.

Tomorrow the Supreme Court hears the simplest argument the Supreme Court will ever hear--does the Constitution mean what it says about people born in the U.S. being citizens. This is the equivalent of asking cartographers whether or not the earth is flat.

Cooking together is fine, actually. It really helps to have someone chop vegetables while the other person makes the sauce. But, in my relationship at least, one person has to be in charge and gives the other person discrete tasks. Otherwise we get in each other's way.

I'm watching some of the proceedings with members of the Idaho legislature regarding a proposed law which makes it illegal to provide aid to undocumented immigrants. A couple of things:

My wife found out a few weeks ago that an ultra-right neighbor's teenage boy had joined the military, and she cried about it, sure that he was going to go die in some useless war. I certainly hope that's not the case, but Trump has just made it much more likely.
