A black capped Chicago! This bowl is part of my peacock experiment, but the outside was decorated with Mishima and Amaco Semi-moist underglazes. #pottery #mishima

An experiment! The bowl on the left (darker clay) was glazed with the peacock method using V’s of flux. The light bowl on the right was glazed with W’s of flux. Same three rows of flux, same colors of Stroke n Coat in each, same Sandstone top coat. The V’s are sharper! #pottery #peacock

It had to be fired twice (apparently the clear glaze was too thick, so it needed a re-melt to clarify the cloudiness in areas…) but I think it’s finished! #pottery #sgraffito

Another clay test, this time with New Mexico Clay’s Ironstone. Nice groggy texture, even when smoothed at each step. And it didn’t seem to bloat or off-gas, even when glazed on both sides!#pottery

Testing new Sandia Red Clay. I used about the same amount of clay, same slip, same Stroke n Coat colors, and same floating green glaze. The round one was fired at cone 5/6, the straight walled one fired higher at 6/7. The difference is pretty minimal… both fired darker than hoped.

Our little kitty eats too fast sometimes and pukes. So I made this slow feeder for her. Being full of sass and attitude, she does NOT appreciate being slowed down. (Or maybe she doesn’t like the potential to chomp on ceramic with her teeth?) It may be a perfect and useless piece. #pottery

Close up of a bowl I glazed entirely with Juicy Fruit, the fluxey glaze that probably “texturized” my lidded whale pot. It’s an amazing glaze and contains entire galaxies in its depths! (But the sharp cracks in it make this bowl not food safe, and risky to touch… ha!) #pottery #lookdontouch

This pot was gonna be great! But it was ruined in the glaze firing. Or maybe it just added a bunch of unexpected texture… My theory is the fluxy glaze I used on the insides needed to offgas… Lesson learned! #pottery #ooops
