Ended my day with a couple of hours sea-watching from my car. So many Sooty Shearwaters going by. Great Northern Diver and loads of Gannets (other half saw a single whale blow) Also saw several Arctic Skuas and a couple of Manx Shearwaters

Loch Stiapabhat this morning. Highlights were 2 Bean Geese with the Greylags, Bar-tailed Godwit and juv. Grey Plover with the Curlews

Brody and I are birdwatching the shoreline for waders. Just a single Knot and a handful of Redshanks and Curlews. Highlight was a gorgeous male Merlin. Brody is tired after a run up the croft and on the beach. He is less than impressed to be here

Spent many hours doing Shorewatch surveys one day last week. Rewarded with a mixed pod of bottlenose and Risso’s dolphins. There are hybrids in this area but I didn’t spot one in this pod 🐬

The weather up on Lewis has been fabulous all week. I only saw 2 bumblebees and 1 hoverfly on my walk around the castle grounds though!

A very exciting afternoon developed after I spotted humpback whale blows from near Port of Ness. After de-camping to the Butt of Lewis they came close into shore and went round the rocks before heading down the Westside #CetaceansUK #MarineMammals
