PlayStation have added a notice about physical discs ending on their page for the disc drive. Could be nothing, but "Discs for games released before Jan. 2028 can continue to be played on THIS console", implies that the PS6 has a different drive, or worse, won't have one at all.

Collectors of physical games are also the people most likely to buy other physical media as well, including artbooks. I have over 200 video game artbooks, including for first party titles. @playstation.com risk pushing away the players that care the most and show it on their shelves.

I'm coming up on 300 physical games between PS3, PS4 and PS5, a collection I intend to keep growing. However, I have trophies for over 700 titles. @playstation.com are too short sighted to see that collectors like me also buy digital games, so losing us is less than wise.

When PlayStation's future is all digital, I think it's realistic to believe that everyone will be paying more for games. The store right now wouldn't put a 68% discount on Battlefield 6, so what hope is there that they'd do that when you have no other purchase options?

Following the PlayStation news, I reached out to publishers of video game artbooks and hoped to get some quotes about their view on the importance of physical releases. But sadly they didn't respond, don't have time, or will take too long to get back to me 🤷‍♂️ I tried though!

PlayStation going all-digital for games is depressing. I just hope they maintain their commitment to other physical releases, including the artbooks that they have been very consistent with.

So 🤬 angry... I always buy physical if it's available, and preservation is important. It also wipes out the used games market, the cheapest option for those on lower incomes. It sets up price monopolies and puts retailers out of business. Hate this.

I just saw Supergirl and have mixed thoughts on it. Milly Alcock was awesome, Momoa was fun as always, and I enjoyed the action sequences overall. The villain was bad though, and the introduction of plot points early on meant the movie wrote itself, we've seen it all before.
