We pay far too much for electricity and gas in this country. Every time we open a bill we see evidence of government failure. The govt must stop allowing multinationals to sell off our gas while paying little or no tax, while we pay more for our gas than the people who buy it overseas.

Australians on the east coast are paying $16.24 per GJ for OUR gas, while the Chinese are set to pay $13.50 (including liquefaction and shipping costs of $2-$3 per GJ). Something is clearly wrong, but our Govt refuses to act. We need a retrospective gas reservation scheme now!

While the media drone on about how hard it is for people with most than $3 million in super to lose some of their tax breaks, in reality the vast majority of Australians have less than $200k in super. The median for a 60 year old woman is just $158k, which means half of women have less than that!

Other countries tax their oil and gas industries. Australia subsidies ours. Our research found while gas prices boomed in 2022, LNG companies made windfall gains of up to $40 billion. PRRT take increased by less than $1 billion. It's time to fix the tax loopholes that Big Gas exploits.

I went to university for free in 1979-1981. Labour introduced HECS in 1989. LNP have left this in place. Royalties from mining gas could eliminate all HECS debt, making housing more affordable.
