Since leaving Twitter I’ve amassed more than 3 times the number of followers I had back there in a very short time. Thanks everyone. I still think social media is dying but will enjoy the good bits of what’s left, rather than mourn the loss of the poisoned bits.

I’ve wondered sometimes why Americans use the word “oftentimes”. It seems to be absolutely identical in meaning & purpose to “oft-times” - ie. A flowery way of saying “often”. You could also say that in a flowery way by saying “oft”. Which is much easier to write, type, or say.
