According to n-tv.de, the proposal to increase support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression to more than €11.5 billion in 2026 is included in a Finance Ministry document prepared for the Budget Committee of the Bundestag as it reviews the draft federal budget. The funds are earmarked for artillery, drones and armored vehicles for Ukraine’s armed forces. They also include plans to provide additional Patriot air-defense systems to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses. The Bundestag’s Budget Committee will meet in the coming days to discuss Germany’s budget for next year. After that, it will become clear what assistance Germany will provide to Ukraine in 2026. Since 2022, Germany has provided Ukraine with financial, military, humanitarian and diplomatic support. The Ertüchtigungsinitiative program has been in place for several years; under it, Berlin has provided Kyiv with about €40 billion.
