On our cycle ride on Sunday we visited the beautiful village of Blackmore where you need to be careful of slow ducks crossing .

Yesterday we cycled past woods, old churches, villages and duck ponds. From Ingatestone through ancient woodland to the ancient side by side churches of Willingdale back through the beautiful old village of Blackmore where there is the old priory church of St Lawrence with its wooden tower.

On our Mayfair walk last week we walked through the Royal Arcade built in 1879 and saw long closed tube station (Down St) and lots more.

Cold but sunny on our Hidden London walk today to Lambeth North and Borough. Among many other things we saw a Tibetan peace garden.

The Perivale to Northolt walk yesterday ended at Northala Fields (with amazing views) and a visit to Northolt village and church.

Perivale to Northolt walk yesterday started with a climb up the ancient hill fort of Horsenden Hill (Bronze age and Iron age and then used in WW1 as a gunnery position against Zeppelins and in WW2 as a searchlight station).

We walked up Telegraph Hill and One Tree Hill on our London High Walk Yesterday. These were the sites of semaphore telegraph stations, beacons and First World War gun platforms. Amazing views towards London.

Our London High Walk yesterday passed through Nunhead cemetery, one of the seven big Victorian cemeteries now a nature reserve.

Another sight on our walk yesterday George Orwell's sinister Ministry of Information Building (aka Senate House)

One of London's iconic Cabmans' shelters set up in Victorian times for the drivers of Hansom Carriages and later Hackney Carriages.

Also seen on our Hidden London walk yesterday, St George's Gardens near Micklenburgh Square. This beautiful secluded park was created from the burial grounds of two churches and the high walls surrounding it were originally to protect it from body snatchers.

Coalville Place, a beautiful little street full of micro gardens as soon on our Hidden London walk in Fitzrovia and Bloomsbury yesterday.

Also on our Hidden London walk yesterday: Savoy Hotel where we had coffee and scones! St Mary in the Strand, St Clement Danes and St Brides Old Strand station Former Norfolk Hotel, a meeting place of Profumo and Christine Keeler Twinings Tea shop Former site of Temple Bar

In a side street just south of the Strand is the King's Chapel of the Savoy, all that remains of the great Savoy Palace built by Peter, Count of Savoy in the 13th century. It is now home to the Royal Victorian Order and Order of Chivalry. We visited the chapel on our Hidden London walk yesterday.

We saw a Patent Sewer Ventilating Lamp on our Hidden walk yesterday. These lamps date from the late 19th century and there used to be hundreds of them in Central London, all powered by sewer gas (methane).

We visited York Gate on our Hidden London walk yesterday, a water gate to the Thames at the rear of York House, a huge place (demolished in the 1670s) once owned by the Dukes of Buckingham. York Gate was marooned when the Embankment was built.
