You know what I hate? “No one owes you anything.” Umm, hi 👋 welcome to society. It’s all good and well to have boundaries, and you can do it while still affording people basic respect, kindness, and human decency. And don’t forget—if you don’t owe anyone anything, no one owes you anything either.

Ahhhhhhh! I’m done with my edits for my agent. I did submit one reworked chapter to my critique group for Thursday and might need to make a tweek or two. And my inner perfectionist will likely want one more read through, but basically I’m done 🎉

I couldn’t share this when I got it because I couldn’t announce my offer yet, but I was thinking about how this is the best rejection I have ever received for anything ever so I thought I’d share now.

Remembering that time an editor offered to look at my opening pages & told me the reason agents were passing was because b/c my readers (I write romance) were "women with no more than a high school education" & I needed to "dumb it down." Not even an hour later, I had an offer of rep.

Just had an emotional breakdown in therapy. Which I know is the place FOR emotional breakdowns. And I yet, I still feel like 🫣

The thing about fibro is it makes u feel like ur dying but ur not. Not a single cell of tissue damage. Just ur brain yelling at u like ur standing on hot coals & getting mad because u won’t get off the burning floor and ur like—“I would brain, but the floor isn’t burning. Also, I’m lying in bed.”

I finished the new ending of my book for my agent. Now to do an editing pass and send it to the critique partners.

Fascism thrives on suppressing dissent. By making people scared to speak up. To show up. They do this so they can control the narrative. If peaceful protests were useless, fascist regimes wouldn’t be so scared of them. So ignore the voices that belittle us for our “uselss parades.” Keep showing up.

Authors and agents, what's the best way to word a nudge on a query. Let's say the agent's website says they respond in 6-8 weeks. Around 6 weeks, the agent responded to all the queries around yours on QT and has continued to respond to queries submitted after yours and it's now 8 weeks. #amquerying
