We are very happy that today Apple issued a patch and a security advisory. This comes following 404 Media reporting that the FBI accessed Signal message notification content via iOS despite the app being deleted.

Cool. Atlanta’s alarm sounds like a red alert. Nobody has moved despite it going off for ten minutes.

It’ll take Meta about 13 hours to make back that revenue in New Mexico. And about 4 and a half minutes to make back the fine in Los Angeles. (Google owes about 19 seconds worth of revenue.) These fines are in no way punitive.

RIP to the car that was never going to come to market anyway. Gonna leave a big Sony-sized hole at CES though.

Went to bed with the moon shining brightly through my window. Woke up to most of it missing on the drive to the gym. Briefly concerned that the age of Seveneves was upon us.

Thank you, Amazon, for the product safety alert for the grill brus I bought more than a decade ago. … That was a close call.

Time to pause our YoutubeTV subscription and try to go antenna-only for a while. Just can’t justify $83 a month when we’re only home for maybe 5 hours a day in which we might watch.

The irony of quitting drinking on Groundhog Day is not lost of me. Kinda poetic, actually. Anyway, six years down. One day at a time to go.

Switched to Carrd for ye olde family landing pages. Ghost was awesome — and I still definitely recommend it if you’re gonna

. But it’s way more than I need. Carrd was super easy and you can’t beat $19 a year.

In: Brand-new 14-inch M4 Pro Out: 2019 16-inch Intel i9 It’s like a whole new world. The good: Smaller bag. Less weight. Things … work. Fast. SD card reader. Unclear: Less RAM. Maybe should have gone 2TB or more.

In a world full of “content” and AI slop, this is good old-school blogging. And the point is spot-on.

I have a 2019 Intel MacBook Pro. It's old. Runs old. I had an LLM look at a couple crash reports and make suggetions, and it now has a second lease on life. ... My question is why doesn't an operating system do this itself.

After months of bagging my head on all the things, I just finally realized my Mac keyboard only pastes in plaintext, but right-clicking to paste does rich text. Dunno why. Don’t care. But, damn.

Tell me you don't know what "bypass" means without telling me you know what "bypass" means. If you're looking at something that's already been decrypted, then you're not bypassing anything. (And the reblogs are even worse.)

More fun with vibe coding. A ridiculously long, multi-file response for what should have been a five-line change in code. It’s hard to believe it’s not doing this in purpose. But on the other hand I could see it trying to be overly helpful. I still have a better context window.
