It's been an entire year since I was laid off, and it's been roughly 7 months since I've even had an interview for a full time job. I keep seeing people write about how networking is the only way to get hired in this market, but most of my professional network is also struggling right now.

Accidentally created a perfect thematic double feature last night by watching BAD TEACHER and MEATBALLS back-to-back. At their core, these are two movies about people who shouldn't be allowed around children, and yet somehow are the best thing for them (in a way that only works on film).

To be fair, they've only had *checks notes* SEVEN YEARS since being awarded the bid for the Olympics.

I made it to the end, watching RETURN OF THE KING tonight. I'm delighted to say it lost none of its power for me. I cried so much everywhere I expected to and everywhere I used to – Théoden's death, "you bow to no one," and a few other places up to and including Annie Lennox's "Into the West." 1/3

The LEGO Smart Brick already looks like something literally no one is asking for, doesn't want, and will wind up never using. Three years from now they'll be talking about retiring yet another useless attempt to "tech" up a play system that's already perfect just as it is.

I am once again begging game developers to consider the accessibility issues of designing your puzzle game to be played first-person POV. Every year I read the "best of" lists looking for fun games I missed and every year I get sad that I can't play them because they'll give me the dizzies.
