On Wednesday, our aircrew spotted Libyan militias with what seems to be a rocket-propelled grenade - just a few weeks after some Libyan "coast guard" militias did shoot at people fleeing to Europe.

After waiting hours in bad weather, our ship finally got the permission to disembark in Lampedusa. All survivors – who by their own account had already been 2 days at sea – disembarked safely. We cannot accept the constant delay of care & shelter, everyone has the right to move!

Aurora needs a safe port now! This morning, our small ship rescued 31 people from a rubber boat. Despite the quickly deteriorating weather, no port has been assigned. Aurora is very close to Lampedusa & tries to shelter. A disembarkation in Lampedusa should have already happened!

Since this morning, 53 people are trapped on the supply vessel MARIDIVE. The sea rescue ship Trotamar 3 is nearby and ready to rescue, but the European and Tunisian authorities are ignoring their calls and refuse to coordinate a rescue.

Another day of fighting EU‘s border regime: Our Aurora assisted in the rescue of 45 persons, including 9 minors. Our crew remained on scene to distribute life jackets & water until the Italian coast guard agreed to intervene and take the people onboard. Strength to all survivors!

On Wednesday, our aircrew spotted a big wooden boat in distress. Luckily, the people were rescued. But we have learned that four of them suffocated inside the lower decks. May they rest in peace and the survivors continue to fight for dignity and freedom. We stand with you.

Shame on @iom.int in Libya for celebrating a meeting with the same government that simultaneously expelled @msf.ca from #Libya without reason. It is unacceptable for the IOM to partner with human rights abusers instead of ensuring migrant protection through independent civil organizations.

Our aircraft Seabird 2 spotted this vessel in distress. The merchant vessel IVER BEAUTY was heading there and confirmed, that they turned away after orders from an unnamed "coastguard". @alarmphone.bsky.social says the boat was intercepted by the so-called Libyan coastguard. This is a disgrace.

Another shipwreck in the Mediterranean. Italy and Malta knew about the boat since yesterday afternoon, thanks to @alarmphone.bsky.social, but did not send help until it was too late. Of the ~35 people on board, only 11 were rescued in Lampedusa [1/2].

Ten years ago today, we still believed that we only had to show politicians what it was like to sit in a rubber boat with 120 people to make them change their politics. We were wrong: Germany is turning more inhuman each day. No one should have to be convinced to save lives.

Last night, two unaccompanied minors were evacuated from our SW5 to Italy due to urgent medical reasons. Today, a mother and her daughter are being transferred to Sicily as well. Fleeing over the sea is incredibly dangerous – no one should have to wait days for safety on land!

Overnight from Sunday to Monday, our Sea-Watch 5 crew rescued 79 people who were left to die by Europe’s deterrence policies. Their assigned port is La Spezia – meaning they won’t reach safety until Friday. No one should have to wait days for safety after surviving the sea.

Libyan militias chase people in distress - one person drowned! Yesterday, the so-called Libyan coastguard tried to force people back to Libya and chased them through the sea. When people fell into the water, they left them to die. One person drowned. This is murder!

After the armed attack by a Libyan militia with survivors on board, we rescued another boat in distress. With 124 survivors now on board our Sea-Watch 5, we ended the last night together with a dinner. We're nearing Napoli to bring everyone safely ashore.

Fortress Europe kills. An iron boat was about to sink about 83 km off Lampedusa. One woman died, and another is missing. About 50 survivors were rescued & the body of the deceased was recovered with help from the civili rescue ship Dakini. Our Seabird crew provided air support.

A group of five activists have been found not guilty of enabling the illegal presence in Poland of Middle Eastern migrants whom they provided aid to after they had irregularly crossed the border from Belarus. Prosecutors had been seeking prison sentences.

UN Human Rights Committee ruled: Italy & Malta violated their duty to rescue. 7 dead & 41 survived only thanks to civil rescue. “That a UN body must remind 🇪🇺 states of the most basic rights of people in distress at sea is a disgrace,” says our spokesperson Paul Wagner.👇

41 people finally reached Lampedusa after 6 days at sea on Tuesday. Their boat shipwrecked, 7 people went overboard and drowned. We rescued the others from a merchant ship where they've been stranded as no 🇪🇺 authority fulfilled their duty to bring them to safety.
