Last night I saw these two live. Didn't know they were in town or even touring, and a friend called to say they had an extra ticket. Loads of fun and laughter, and the time flew right by! International treasures, both.

Any other ideas? All the best ones had at least one port.

Microprose is the undisputed king, then Emlyn Hughes, then the Italian version thereof, then a load of manager games until you get to the original C= release. Basically, with 4 pages of football games, only 2!! action-oriented ones managed to surpass the original C= game over the life of the system.

If I could go back and freeze consumer technology, I'd freeze us at November of '93. Amiga 1200 is out, Street Fighter & Mortal Kombat on Genesis, Road Rash 1 & 2, NHL 94, but BEFORE DOOM. Wolf3D is allowed because it hadn't yet given the world 1st-person shooty fever, the most meh trend in games.

Man, I can't recommend the Digital Eclipse Making of Karateka package highly enough. All four of the included versions play differently enough that you have to alter your play style for each. My beloved C64 version may be the slowest of the bunch, but it's not such a bad thing for my aging reflexes.

That Karateka chicken is the bane of my existence.
