There's an art to the DNF, in a way. Especially (or at least, I say this for myself) if you read a lot. It's not even a full commentary on the book or the writing, but more of a "eh, not for me." I used to NEVER not finish. I thought, "a publisher saw merit in this book; I must find it too." Nope!

My favorite annual tradition: quickly and haphazardly drawing every book I read this year! Here's 2024.

Halloween this year I went for a walk & when I returned, my friend's sunglasses were on the beach bench, but not the person. As if he had vanished. Just thinking about how we had a laugh at the Halloweeness of it, but same scene would be hard not to be totally overwrought in fiction.
