Undergraduate student researcher Sydney Mockensturm and faculty member Dr. Andrew Geers recently attended the 5th International Conference of the Society for Interdisciplinary Placebo Studies in Poland. Sydney and Dr. Geers both presented on the mechanisms of the placebo and nocebo effects.

Sydney Mockensturm, an undergraduate Psychology major, received internal funding for her independent reach project titled "Testing Cognitive Dissonance, Control, and Confidence as Mediators for Treatment Choice on Placebo Eye Fatigue Outcomes" (PI: Dr. Andrew Geers, @socialhealthlab.bsky.social).

We are happy to share another publication co-authored by our wonderful doctoral student, Liz O'Donoghue! Liz and colleagues developed an initial classifier Machine Learning (ML) model for predicting a history of abuse that demonstrates equivalent sensitivity compared to other screening measures.
