Hi all!👋 This year, my sabbatical will focus on learning more about the brain, esp. neural mechanisms behind social theory of mind & affect. This includes its breakdowns, e.g. psychosis, hallucinations and delusions related to ToM. I'll be posting what I learn along the way. Thanks for connecting! ☺️

We were very lucky to round of day 1 and start day 2 with two amazing keynotes - thank you Stephan Heckers and Tanya Lurhmann!

Day two of #ICHR2025 begins with the one and only Tanya Luhrmann speaking on “Culture and Voices”. Voices are not merely a glitch or aberration, but tell us “something fundamental about our minds”, our cultures, and our ways of understanding thinking itself

Drawing on studies in Ghana, India, Thailand, Russia & China, & with evangelical Christians, tulpamancers & elite athletes, Luhrmann shows convincingly that practice, proclivity & porosity are key to understanding ‘non-clinical’ voice-hearing & to asking new Q’s about psychosis #ICHR2025

why are hallucinations in schizophrenia typically auditory? maybe it's just the way it is. but how about: other hallucinations, like visuals in Parkinson's, are more ignorable? whereas having a constant inner voice that tells u things is mroe likely to drive us crazy? 🧠📈 @philcorlett.bsky.social

I’ve always had an interdisciplinary approach to philosophy. I feel that at the highest levels of most academic fields, disciplinary walls begin to fade. I know philosophers who are in neuroscience, law, psychology, and business departments. We have to stop policing boundaries.

Updated preprint - delusional unreality and predictive processing, now showing psychics who endorse unreality have as many first rank symptoms as patients, and that the parameter effects are different for paranoia - there is specificity! osf.io/preprints/ps...

I am saying, some people think that an MMN deficit drives voice hearing. We found some voice hearers who do not have an MMN deficit, so maybe those people are wrong
