Why is everyone shrieking? It does terrible things to one's voice.

"I haven't?" She has tried to be everywhere all at once, but her practices with her Angel take up more and more of her time. Truth be told, she is quite exhausted. She is losing sleep and weight. Yet, she has never sung so beautifully, according to him. "I /am/ practicing, I promise. I know-

"Then, the best thing we can do, is our best." Christine fairly trembles under Madame's displeasure, and it makes her sad when she sees Meg the subject of it. "Do you think we can even win her praise?"

Why does everyone cast slurs upon her Angel?

She frowns, hurt that her friend, her confidante is casting shadows upon her mentor, her benefactor. "Papa would not lie. He sent him to watch over me and to teach me. He promised, Meg." Her Angel means nothing but good for her. Does he not?

Look at the two of them. Both wanting to be the best at what they do, but unable to accept praise from their dearest friend. "Meg, your Mama drives you because she believes in you. She wants the world for you, but she wants you to work very hard for it. The world is cruel, and she doesn't want-

She shakes her head. "I do not know." This is truth. "Papa promised, and I believe what he said. My Papa loved me and never lied."

Plucking an apple and a small cup of oatmeal, she follows Meg to a table. She can not argue that her passion is in song, but she will still not brag. She does not believe that she is such a talent. "Meg. Please. You could out dance me any day. Your fouetté turn makes me weep!"

She must not tell. How did Meg hear? Did she speak aloud? "Papa told me an Angel of Music would come to me one day...it comforts me to talk of them..." Not a truth, not a lie.

"Meg." Christine shakes her head before leading her friend towards the dining hall. If they do not eat, they will feel horrid for the rest od the day. "I am lucky that I have not tumbled headfirst into the orchestra pit. You do not miss a step. You are graceful, where we look like giraffes in-

Slipping her arm through Meg's, Christine pats her hand. "You are a wonderful dancer, Meg. I think...I think she knows it, too. She pushes you, because you are better than all of us. She is proud, but can't say it." She doesn't think she is very good, but dancing does not have her heart as -

"Oh, my Meg, I meant no harm!." Wrapping her fingers gently around her friend's wrist she smiles gently. "She is a very good mother to you, too. I only meant..." Flushing, Christine steps closer. "I only fear to disappoint her."

"Madame can be rather terrifying...."
