Avonte Maddox making a PBU in the Super Bowl wasn't on my bingo card. Good for him coming up big in a big spot. He is a player that I thought very highly of for a long time. It's a shame that injuries had such a negative impact on his career.

Brandon Graham just destroys the RT here. I hate that he got held and didn't get to record a sack. Jalyx Hunt dominates the LT too.

Come for the Josh Sweat sack. Stay for Jalyx Hunt almost punching an official after the play. The post route from the top of the screen gets open, but it is far too late, even with chip block help from the RB. Jalyx Hunt does a really nice job rushing against Joe Thuney and disrupting the pocket.

Vaunted pass rush specialist Jordan Davis! Look how good the coverage is behind. You could maybe fit this into Juju for a 4 yard gain, but that's still a tight window. Coverage was unbelievable.

It's better to be lucky than good. It's best to be both lucky and good. The Eagles have a rare secondary coverage bust here but DeAndre Hopkins drops the pass.

It's always easy for Jalen Carter to rush the passer, but alarm bells go off when it is that easy.

Quinyon Mitchel is lined up against the fastest WR in combine history and is just sitting on underneath routes with 7 yards of cushion. He isn't even remotely worried about getting beat deep. Mahomes goes to the backside and makes an awful throw over the middle that Zack Baun intercepts.

The Eagles just played their defense and executed it perfectly. They play 5 over 3 to the top of the screen and have no problem leaving Quinyon Mitchell 1 on 1 with Travis Kelce or Oren Burks 1 on 1 with a RB. Nothing is close to open at the top of the drop, and the TE stunt wins off the left side.

Oh my word Nolan Smith. You basically can't run a puller at him at this point. Moro Ojomo does a great job of shedding the LG and getting in on the play in the backfield too.

What a play by Cooper DeJean. A very poor stunt attempt (with a MAJOR hold on Jalen Carter) lets Mahomes escape the pocket but DeJean reads Mahomes' eyes, reels in his first career INT (on his birthday no less), and returns it 38 yards for a TD.

3 years ago Jalyx Hunt was playing safety at Cornell. Now, as a rookie, he is putting one of the best OGs in the league on skates in the Super Bowl.

Josh Sweat (the 19th best player on the defense in this game according to PFF) blowing by Travis Kelce for the sack of Patrick Mahomes. Even if this isn't such a quick pressure, where is Mahomes going to go with this? Everybody is locked up. I love Reed Blankenship turning to find the crosser

Look at the pre-snap communication here from the defense off of the motion. Very impressive stuff. This has been such a well-coached unit all season. You would never guess there are 2 rookie starters in the secondary (and a backup LB)

The Eagles drop 8 again and they still get pressure on Mahomes while having 6 guys in coverage over the 3 routes on the play side.

The Chiefs try to throw a screen away from Cooped DeJean, but it still doesn't work with Quinyon Mitchell flying downhill to drop the hammer

I love everything about this 3rd down rep. Blankenship walks out over the RB but then Baun is responsible for him post snap. DeJean gets a great press on Kelce while Blankenship flies downhill to help inside. Isaiah Rodgers does a fantastic job navigating through traffic to cover the wheel route.

The Eagles drop 8 on 2nd down with Josh Sweat sinking inside Travis Kelce. He doesn't do a very job, but I love the idea. This is one of the things I wanted to see the Eagles do against Kelce. The throw is behind and Kelce drops it.

If the plan was fake a screen on the 1st play so you can throw a screen on the 2nd play it's safe to say that plan failed miserably.

The Chiefs go 4x1 with Xavier Worthy on Orbit motion on the first play of the game. Cooper DeJean jumps the potential screen and Mahomes throws it right behind him. Really nice counter to expectations.

The Chiefs had a safety sprint from outside the left hash to the right sideline to get over the top of AJ Brown. I don't blame Hurts for turning down Brown here, but the ball has to come out to Barkley. Asking Hurts to get to backside reads outside the hash is just asking for trouble.

How do you stop an AJ Brown slant route? If the answer doesn't start with double coverage then it is wrong.

Nobody really runs with Saquon, largely due to the threat of Hurts as a runner if they lighten the box too much, so the Eagles get a numbers advantage outside the numbers and Saquon picks up a 1st down through the air.

The Eagles go 12 personnel play action and call ballgame. Looks like the Chiefs bracketed AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith made them pay. Perfect playcall. Perfect route. Perfect throw.

Really good coverage by the Chiefs here and Hurts just has to roll out and throw the ball away

Looks like the Eagles tried to play off the little swing route to Barkley and set up Dallas Goedert to get vertical but he slipped. Hurts is able to extend the play and find Saquon Barkley up the sideline.

Jalen Hurts' scrambles were just backbreaking in the 3rd quarter. Having your NT responsible for the RB to the flat is unsound pass coverage AND opens up big rush lanes.

Looks like AJ Brown gets pushed too far inside and isn't able to really threaten #22 vertically so he has eyes on Goedert the whole way. Hurts could probably still rip this into Goedert too, but it could have been a bigger window. At the end of the day I have no problem with turning that down up 24

The Eagles sprint to the line from the huddle and quick snap it to catch the Chiefs off guard. Look how slow the pass rush is to get off the line. Brown gets left wide open on the drag route for a touchdown to push the Eagles lead to 24 before half.

Hurts and Brown are not on the same page here. Brown stacks the CB but Hurts throws back shoulder. I'm sure the quick pressure didn't help

Nothing really open here. Would love to see DeVonta Smith breaking to the sideline against a LB with inside leverage or Saquon coming to the middle on an angle route or sitting over the ball. But there just isn't anywhere to throw the ball here.

The run game wasn't really working, so the Eagles tried to swing the ball out to the flat to give Saquon some 1 on 1 opportunity.

Hurts was throwing with confidence in the 1st half. This isn't even remotely open, but it doesn't have to be when AJ Brown is your receiver and you are throwing back-shoulder balls like this. It's a really nice rep in pass pro too from Tyler Steen and Lane Johnson to pass off the ET stunt

On 3rd and 10 the Chiefs dial up a CB blitz but nobody picks up the LB standing in the A gap pre-snap. It looks like the line slides left, which is bizarre when, again, there is a LB standing in the right A-gap. If they are sliding left then Saquon has to be responsible for him, but he barely looks

The Eagles motion into a 4x1 formation but don't really do much with it. DeVonta Smith is covered up and Dallas Goedert is breaking into a safety. Hurts just checks it down to Saquon and avoids a negative play.

The Chiefs dial up a huge pressure on 3rd and 4 and the OL does a poor job picking it up. Becton is late getting out and the Chiefs get a free runner through the B gap. Jahan Dotson is open on the drag route quickly when the slot and LB both blitz though, would love to see that ball come out.

There is a back angle you don't see on all-22 often 😂

Having this to fall back on in the run game is so important. The Chiefs have 6 in the box against 5 blockers, so the Eagles turn Saquon into a lead blocker. Now it is 6 on 6 and Hurts almost moves the chains on 1st down.

I love the snap count variation here. This time they go off of Hurts' leg hike instead of Becton tapping Jurgens to catch the Chiefs off guard. Both flats are wide open. Easy pitch and catch.

The Chiefs show pressure and then bail out into C2 with the left hook/curl defender coming from the right A gap. Do you know what is open when you ask a LB to run from the right A gap to the left hook/curl? Jalen Hurts does.

If you were wondering why the Eagles run game struggled, the Chiefs were doing a lot of stuff like this to get an extra defender in the run game even if they didn't always stack the box pre-snap.
