Yes, I am a DEVOted follower. A pioneering band that influenced most of music today. I have an ex whose favorite band was Devo, so I got some good exposure to them back then. I've always connected with punk and New Wave, so Devo just made sense. They're more than just "Whip It", way more! :)

The Postal Service was a tremendous influence on a ton of folks when this album came out. I think the "lovesick love song" is one of the motifs I will always seek out for the emotions it inspires in me. Particularly resonant: "Your heart won't heal right if you keep tearing out the sutures."

This one is a bop. I love the original by New Order and have actually seen it live, but the Miku cover hits different. Astrophysics in general has some really good takes on eighties songs and I appreciate the fact I can just leave a playlist up with a dozen good Miku synth covers. :)

A song that lives in my brain for DAYS when I happen to hear it. I discovered Architecture in Helsinki twenty years ago and got to see them live exactly once before they went on hiatus. I love the disco energy that this song gives. RIP AiH.

Now for something completely different! I'd be surprised if many of you have heard of Atom. He made most of his music in the late 90s and early 00s, but made some really catchy music in his time. This song is about buying a house with your friends and doing some DIY work on it. I love the title.

Porter Robinson holds a special place in my heart. His songs have a unique way of helping me feel difficult emotions. Plus they're bangers! "How do you do music? Well it's easy. You just face your fears and become your heroes I don't understand why you're freaking out"

The Beths have come to mean a whole lot to me since I discovered them in 2022, becoming of my favorite bands. I've even seen them twice in the past few years! The first time I heard this song, I had tears running down my face. "I wanna love 'til my heart stops."
