It is with great pleasure that I would like to inform whomever reads this that I have witnessed our garden hedgehog, and it is a chonky baby. I have no photographic evidence cause I called Anna and the kids so they can see the spikychonk instead of going for a phone.

Sometimes I work on a thing, and I have a perfect idea of how I want it to look, but can't get put it to proverbial paper just right. And I iterate, and iterate and eventually it's becoming a daunting task of insane complexity, until it clicks and gets done in 30 seconds. I hate those times.

So I get up, destroy people in Mechabellum for an hour while waiting for my ADHD meds to kick in so I can start working, and lo and behold, I forgot to take them. I feel that perhaps needing to pay attention and remember to take them is ADHD medication's biggest inherent flaw...

Ergot is fascinating. It has been plaguing humanity at least since the dawn of agriculture. The oldest sclerotium was discovered on a grass floret encased in amber from the early-mid Cretaceous period, somewhere around 100 million years ago.

Software devs REALLY need to cut the shit with AI. No, I don't want the program to change my settings when I start it up, don't add pages, don't hide tooltabs, don't do anything. Seriously, the amount of time I have to waste unfucking the changes done by AI to "improve my experience" is staggering.

We bought a bunny manor so our cats can lounge outside without becoming in equal parts ecological disaster and smear on the asphalt. Talis takes to it well and lets us know by scratching furiously at the door so she can go to the yard at 4 am, while Theon discovered his inner dwarf and dug a hole.

Heatwave almost over, I hear. It's been a rather exhausting month, even for me despite dealing with temperatures better than most people, I managed to get myself a sunburn :).

I discovered Void Crew game today, and I just adore how steeped in Hermetic magic and Gnostic philosophies its aesthetics are. Can't help but love good old fashioned esoterics in scifi, I'm a sucker for the vibe.

So I felt a bit sick all week, but not really, just mushy and tired. And before that I had weird symptoms all year, even tried antidepresants for a while - bad idea btw. Mystery solved, turns out, I have a third wisdom tooth growing, and it just crowned today. Yay.

Taking a little break from the layout of a mushroom-filled campaign to finally acknowledge that I haven't really been here for what feels like a year. I think the burnout is passing, though, so expect me to again be excited about things :)

Slow day today. I do have tons of work, but most of it is conceptual, so I guess I'm playing Thrash Goblin all day. I love my job.

It's happening, the first Twilight Imperium game with the kids. 1 round in, son (playing Emirates) tells everyone how they want to be an alliance with him, because he has fleets that "crush you," then gets upset when we tell him to stop threatening, or we build up our own fleets and blockage him.

Whoo-we, the new Jurassic World movie creators ran out of unused bits and bobs from the novels to make a "script" out of and had to re-use and enshittify the already used bits I see. The audacity needed to put the "Crativity is King" sticker in the movie is worth an award of its own XD.

We're watching a "historical" movie in which Jon Snow guy brakes the neck of a horse with his bare hands in the first 10 minutes. I guess they have to establish the expected level of verisimilitude from the start...

Aight, with Aphelion almost ready to rumble (soon, I hope, though it's not entirely up to me), I'm low-key starting work on my next project. All I can say for now that it's going to be a diceless, or almost diceless TTRPG/boardgame.

Aight, week of vacation over. Tomorrow back to work, laying out Aphelion, editing a novel for re-release and learning to draw. No brakes on the workaholism train!

Some time ago I posted about how I will actually finish Baldurs Gate 3 this time. Well I didn't restartitis disease won again. But this time I'm really gonna do it, so here's Olgierd. Chances are he'll make it out of Act 1 before I break the game again with more mods :)

Step one of meeting new people. We entered a social venue. I didn't talk to anyone, but it's a start! In new places and with new people I'm suave like a cat. Meaning, I'm hidden under a couch and maybe vomiting on the carpet.

Almost finished putting together a first Aphelion adventure, for playtests. Woo. Happiness.

The downside of focusing on writing for years and returning to graphic design is that they switch up interface on me, and I gotta learn it again. The downside of doing it in 2025 is that I have to waste my time disabling the funking "AI" thrash for two hours before I can start working.

Oh yeah, I have a social media account. Stuff and junk happens, of which I'll disclose none of, for I don't wanna. But behold a post!

Kids entered the age of fanfics. We're playing Trudvang Legends with a bit of rp, and daughter's priestess backstory is apparently "a bit like Gyata's from Avowed, except her parents were turned into draugr and she experiments with blood magic to change them back." Dorable.

#AphelionRPG comes along! I've done all the rules etc, and moving towards making the first playtest layouts and tutorial scenarios. Very exciting, I was almost witnessed smiling, but caught myself on time.

I discovered Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord and Europe 1100 mod. Goodbye cruel world, I'm gonna go run caravans between Krakow and Constantinople now.

It always bugs me when game developers make confidently incorrect rules. "Bows are dexterity weapons" "sabres are good at cuts but can't thrust" and all that. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect devs to be experts on everything, or even actually using the things, but it's basic research, please.

We're watching a detective story where the protagonist's crime solving superpower are having the ability to do basic math like substraction and addition combined with basic observation skills. It's presented as some kind of amazing phenomenon. It's not even a parody. Whaaaa?

Days when I have to shift gears from one trivial chore to another instead of focusing on work, are so damn exhausting. It's 4pm, and I'm spent, just wanna watch a movie. But tv says the scifi horror I want to watch is unavailable in my country, and tells me to watch an american sitcom instead. FML.
