No way! I cycled through there on my 2021-22 bicycle trip & completely missed it! Maybe I should return to the coast & head up 101 again on my current bicycle trip as I make my way up to Canada & then Alaska. Yes, mainly just to visit this! Hiker/Biker camps in OR state parks are a nice bonus.😎

I am so sad that while I am in the right regions to ride my bicycle up to some of these, my timing is off. 😭 I'll be in Phoenix this weekend, no way I could get to Irvine by the 7th, San Jose is off my route, & April 4 is too early for me to be cycling to Seattle. Ah, it feels so nice to ride with a chain properly gripped by the sprockets again! As far as i can tell, the old chain didn't damage my chainrings or cassette, so I think all is good. Almost felt like riding a new #bicycle today! 😎👍🏼 #BikeSky #BicycleTravel

These two lengths of bicycle chain have the same number of links. The one on the right is brand new. The one on the left has 8,538km on it. The chain stretch is REAL!🤯 I probably waited too long to replace it, but now I have a spare. Will replace next at 15,000km. #BikeSky #BicycleTravel

Anyone out there have any experience with the Helinox Lite Cot (&/or also the cheaper knockoffs that are 2x the weight but 1/4 the price)? My thermarest has a pinhole leak somewhere & is delaminating due to over-inflating to compensate😅 so I’m considering a cot as a replacement. #BikeSky #Camping

I’m taking my time b/c I ordered new bike chains (replacement + spare for the future) & they won’t arrive in Sierra Vista until Thursday. Tires update. I was able to order ahead a new set of Schwalbe Marathon Plus Tour tires and have them delivered to my awesome #Warmshowers host in Las Cruces. Here’s the history so far of my tire (& brake pad) replacements on this trip. Probably getting close to need new brakes again.😅 #BikeSky

After taking a rest day with my wonderful #Warmshowers host in Las Cruces #NewMexico, I continued on my way west. I passed to Big Chile, which was in fact big. I crossed the Rio Grande which was completely dry. I climbed out of the valley. 1/4 #BikeSky #BicycleTravel

Having given up on Tucumcari, I instead made my way to Roswell #NewMexico, which was as far east as I’d go. Goatheads were giving me so many punctures, so I got some more spare tubes at a bike shop there. Stayed w/ a lovely #Warmshowers host before heading back west. 1/5 #BikeSky #BicycleTravel

New Years Eve saw me approaching Carrizozo & crossing the rather amazing Carrizozo Laca Flow. Still planning at that point to get to Tucumcari, I turned north at Carrizozo making for some BLM land to camp on.

From Socorro #NewMexico, I continued east along the northern side of the White Sands Missile Range, passing the Trinity nuclear bomb site. #BikeSky #BicycleTravel

On Christmas Eve, I passed the Very Large Array radio telescope observatory. In a testament to how little I actually plan my routes, I’d had no idea I was passing it at all until I saw it coming up!😅 Still, it was amazing to see all the dishes turning in sync! Science rules! #BikeSky #BicycleTravel

After Petrified Forest NP, I made my way southward to Show Low, AZ for the nearest bike shop to restock on tire tubes, because I-40 road debris had done a number on me. Then eastward into #NewMexico & across the Continental Divide at 2376m. #BikeSky #BicycleTravel
