"I don't see interim head coach as a promotion." Said that the confidence level in the staff has him sticking to his guns on no interim and doesn't rule out an internal hire at the end of the day.

"Let me stress that we always are talking about improvements. Constantly." Mentions a three year financial plan for the program.

Swarbrick said there was a "Freudian slip" or two along the way...perhaps the "Freeman is the next head coach" Golf Channel slip? (Please say yes, Jack)

Every question digging into the coaching search is getting an answer and posture similar to 12 years ago. Full confidence from Swarbrick and absolutely not showing his hand.

Great question on if BK had reached a ceiling at ND. Swarbrick says he doesn't want to answer for him. BK did, however, tell the team that this was all about having another opportunity and that the timing was right for him and his family. Says were similar to Riley's comments.

Question on if BK mentioned anything else he wanted ND to change. Swarbrick says conversations always happened and what they could do. Again, working to put to bed any rumors that there was something structurally or operationally deficient in how ND Football runs things.

Another facilities question, phrased by @PeteSampson_ as a "what's next" for what's needed. Swarbrick believes they have the best indoor facility in the nation, notes NFL scouts have said the same. Says there will be "continued investment" in facilities and future Gug expansion.

Swarbrick needs "more time to process" what the recent moves of BK, and other coaches, means to the college football landscape. We all need time to process, Jack. We all do.

"Well designate the person that makes the jump ball calls" and the coin toss. Sticking to the no interim. Makes it clear BK will have no part in it.

No assistants are going to LSU with BK at this time.

"I don't want everyone thinking that Notre Dame isn't working full steam." Mentions assistants recruiting on the road.

Swarbrick wants to do the "best job we can" in the coaching search and not "the fastest job we can"

Swarbrick says he hasn't reached out to anyone yes, but that people have absolutely reached out to him.

Swarbrick also will put emphasis on being a "development program"

Top two things on the screening list are fit and ND and how you win.

Compares the situation to 12 years ago in which "Rebuilding a program" was high on the list and that isn't there now. They will make a list of, well, sounds like TRAITS, needed for the next head coach. Build a list and then screen off of that.

Swarbrick says he doesn't keep a list of candidates because every search has "its own dynamics"

Swarbrick wasn't completely blindsided. Said there was enough things that happened in the weeks prior that gave him the impression that this could happen.

Said BK called him to resign. No chance to match. Wild.

Swarbrick says the University will do the search. No outside firm.

Swarbrick asked if BK relayed any of the conversations he had with other schools. Swarbrick said no such conversations were had and also shoots down the rumors that there was some type of facilities disagreement that they couldn't provide to better the program.

Interim coach question right off the bat by @EHansenNDI. Jack says no question has been made and doesn't feel a need to name one immediately.

Has mentioned multiple times that he's "on the search" so I highly doubt we will get anything more than an interim announcement today. Sorry Marcus Freeman stans.

Jack mentions that Notre Dame is in their current position because of the work of Brian Kelly and the rest of the ND staff.

Jack mentions that the situations are different than the last time he had to do this 12 years ago. Had to fix a "broken program" and in 14 years the program has never been in better shape.
