As I'm learning unmasking and being truer to myself and unearthing the parts I've buried I'm realizing how much that sort of "intrinsically annoyed at the way another person is existing" feeling can often be a fear response of "they're doing something I've internalized as dangerous"

I dunno. The point being I guess that I'm slowly learning that when I feel that "god I'm embarrassed for them" kind of instinctual annoyance it's a cue for me to stop and ask myself if I'm really annoyed or if I'm afraid for them.

And if it's the latter, I'm then learning to redirect the feelings instead to being proud of them for being sincere and brave in the world in a way that I had learned to bury for so long. And to ask if I wouldn't, in fact, like to join them in that sincerity.
