I think I don't like the hidden boss health bars in the Hollow Knight games. It obfuscates my ability to gauge the effectiveness of spells/tools/etc. and it isn't replaced with touches like "the boss gets visually weaker" or "their color palette degrades" which act as diegetic replacements.

If you ever want to develop a big chip on your shoulder in the US, live within weather distance of a Bay Area and then watch how many people use the phrase "Bay Area" to refer to places that they don't live in, but are not your Bay Area, as if San Francisco Bay is the only bay in the whole country.

I had forgotten how many of Hollow Knight's bosses hinge most of their difficulty on having their attack frequency being ever-so-slightly faster than the time it takes to heal. Makes sense to have this for some portion of the bosses but it feels like this is the only difficulty vector that matters.

Probably earlier???? Breath of the wild announced it's dlc before it came out and charged for it

Got all the way to the Crystal Guardian before dying in my Hollow Knight replay and the only reason I died was the combination of bosses generally having strict windows for safe healing + it jumped on my healing spot twice.

Every online game that has activities players can do together needs to have a bit of evil in it players can opt into so things are interesting & informative. No mmo needs to give guilds the ability to require dues/resources from their members, but it's funny when they make it an option.

This is one of my least favorite video thumbnail trends. Wherein they edit some pop-culture figure's head onto a character's torso. The only time this style is good is when it's the creator's own head. It's especially bad when they head they pick is only used for vibes.

I went and looked up all the 🏇🏼 characters to see if any stood out to me and I can say that none do. I'm not fond of art style either, though seeing the older designs of some of them was interesting.

One of my least favorite tropes is when a weakness (or strength) of Character A is exploited by Character B, and that what A wanted all along. E.g. a vampire gets thrown into broad daylight by a hunter, but the vampire knew they were going to be thrown outside and that's what they wanted, actually.

I didn't know until this weekend that people will straight-up quit Tower at Paradigm's Breach and suffer the penalty when they get it in Alliance Roulette (I've been trying to get sets from it). Starting to believe that, for Alliance Roulette only, leaving should forfeit the roulette rewards.

I'm replacing some of the coffer drops in the Occult Crescent with teleportation mist that warps you out of the instance and queues you into a random roulette.

I always feel like a space alien when people talk doom 2016 vs eternal because I was like snoring playing 2016 and then really enjoyed all of eternal....

On one hand, I like that certain plugins have allowed people to modify the appearances of outfits, models, and faces without unilaterally changing those for everyone. On the other hand, the deluge of those "dedicated to moonlight" puts a real damper on my enthusiasm for others' WoLs.

i think it's always so insane when you see people who ostensibly pretend to care about games talk about things like "profit ceilings" or the "things game companies /have/ to do" because neither of those things are real, or matter, to anything, and legitimizing them is pathetic

I stopped being a die-hard Nintendo fan once I left middle school and it's weird to see people who still are. Not talking about liking their games or anything it's just weird when people my age write off enough libraries of games because they aren't Nintendo.
