Woke up at 4:30 and coughed and coughed and finally got back to sleep around 5. Then the cat started hacking up a hairball beside me so I kicked her out. Then my phone vibrated indicating M’s afternoon bus is cancelled. Ugh.

As a parent of figure skaters, I’m proud of Skate Canada for this decision. There is NOTHING unsafe about a transgender athlete competing in figure skating.

I gave in to the sickness this afternoon and took a 2 hour nap, unexpectedly. I think the antibiotics are finally starting to kick in a bit. This is the first time in a week and a half that my throat hasn’t felt like fire.

Called my family doc. Got through on the 10th try and there was a cancellation for 3:15. Perfect. Receptionist says “just to confirm, Sarah White, birthdate August 18, 1938?” I know I don’t sound great but do I really sound 87? 😂

Every time someone asks J what she’s asking Santa for this year, she says snow. So you can blame her for all the white stuff I guess!

Yesterday my mom came down for a visit, as the kids are skating in their ice show today. I asked her to take a look at my sewing machine. It gummed up immediately and she concurred she could not see what was causing it. Then she went out to the car and brought out a brand new machine.

Well I slept for a few hours. I need to sleep more.

Took my puffer, took a Mucinex, took a CBD gummy, put Vicks vapo rub on my chest and now I’m laying in bed with a lozenge in my mouth, hoping everything will kick in and I can sleep tonight.

I slept approximately 4 hours total last night, the alarm went off and M’a bus is cancelled, as I hit snooze I got a text that CCRCE schools pretty much everywhere except East Hants are cancelled…

I have been awake since 1 am. I am so tired. I can’t sleep though, I just keep coughing. My abs and ribs are killing me.

Awake coughing again. I took my puffer so many times yesterday and it’s not really helping. My coughs are tight and yet still productive. Feels like pneumonia but surely, it can’t be? It only moved to my chest Tuesday.

You can tell I need a break and am desperately waiting for the holidays to start. I forgot a meeting was in-person and drove to the city last-minute. I barely made it to J’s dentist appointment on time. While there I realized M had rehearsal and had to be picked up at 4. I’m so tired.

I really want to take a sick day and just go back to bed. But I’m supposed to interview a candidate for a job today, and I have stuff to do, and my dog keeps sighing because she wants a walk. So I’m getting dressed.

As a professional communicator, I just cannot understand how people can use AI to make social posts with horrible spelling mistakes, and then just use them without fixing it. In the last week I have seen Enfield spelled as Enfeild, Dartmouth spelled as Dartmuuth, and creative spelled as cretive.

I have called Staples 3 times about an order of cards I am having printed for a donor, and it just rings and rings and rings. When I track my order online it just says “processing.” I placed it on Nov 27. I just want to know when to expect it because the donor wanted it last week.

Got M’s glasses ordered from Costco. $100 less than at FYI glasses. She’s happy, I’m happy. Then I got a few things including a rotisserie chicken and cauliflower pizza crust, and I made a bbq chicken pizza for supper with banana pepper and onions and it was SO GOOD.

JFC the kids’ schools have a 2 hour delayed opening, after a PD yesterday and storm day Wednesday. I haven’t been to the office yet this week, I need to go in today. This just throws a wrench in everything.

J’s brand new sled is definitely blowing around out there 😬 Between that, the wind in general and my neighbour’s very loud heat pump, I can’t sleep.

I did parent teacher for both kids today and they are both doing SO well. J had a rough year socially last year so this is a huge relief. M is in her first year of middle school and I know the expectations are high, so it’s a relief there too.

Gracie is very pupset that we didn’t go for a walk this morning. She has been whining so much, going out, coming back in, whining more.

School is cancelled for CCRCE but I haven’t ventured out to see what the situation is outside. Sounds windy.

Took J to the pharmacy to have her ear looked at, and she does indeed have an ear infection. Except it’s not an inner ear infection, it’s in the canal. I’m so glad the pharmacy clinic does ears now!

Anyone have experience with glasses who can help me understand something? M needs glasses for reading. Her prescription is +.5 in each eye, and then ADD +.5 for a progressive lens. But she also has a prism prescription for one eye.

So I called my family doctor’s office 6 times today within the hours that they answer phones, and did not get through. Where does one get a child seen for an ear infection on a weekday? Is a walk in my only option?

We had the busiest day today. 4-H, a birthday party, groceries and skating. J went to bed not feeling great and complaining her throat was sore but didn’t want Advil. She woke at 10:30 bawling that her ear hurt. A dose of Advil and now she’s asleep in bed. Poor kid.

According to witnesses on FB, the guy with the gun made it to past Superstore in Elmsdale before he was arrested. That’s a pretty significant distance from where he was originally spotted. Glad he was finally caught but geez.

Took the dog for a walk in Milford and there was snow! Tons of dogs there today so she was very sniffy.

M was so clingy tonight - didn’t want to be away from me at the rink, wanted to snuggle with me on the couch when we got home. The dog was equally as clingy, and now that I’m in bed, she’s curled up behind my legs and Luna is curled up on my legs. No one gag about personal space 😂

So the big sign that says 14 mins to downtown via MacDonald bridge… where do you think they’re counting as downtown? The other side of the MacDonald bridge? It’s minimum 20 mins to Scotia Square.

Bought some gluten free flour based on a recommendation from a friend. Got home and realized there’s no xantham gum in it and I don’t have any.

Yesterday J missed the bus because a substitute bus driver missed her stop. Today M’s morning bus is cancelled. I hope tomorrow can be a morning where things are normal 🫠

This makes me feel so sad. Shelter beds aren’t housing. Neither are hotels. People need actual stable and affordable homes. And we need to prevent people from becoming homeless to make a real dent in these numbers.

Take it easy on the roads tonight. There’s a lot of black ice in East Hants, and a car off the road on highway 2 in Lantz. So slippery.

Opened the air fryer to make hashbrowns for the kids and I found 3 egg white bites in there that we made yesterday afternoon 🤦🏼‍♀️ whoops! Unsure if I forgot about them or J did (or both I guess)

I didn't know missing person Eli Wood much but we were mutuals on FB, likely via shared activism. I hope he's found soon and safe.
