By the eighth night, the hanukkiah shines at its brightest. All the lights together create a glow that fills the room and spills into the street. This is the perfect image for our collective climate work: many small lights becoming something powerful, beautiful, and impossible to ignore.

It's the 4th (and final) Sunday in Advent today. The final days of this short season remind us that God is not distant but dwells among us within creation itself. Emmanuel comes not to escape the world, but to redeem and renew it.

Joy is an act of resilience. Climate news can feel heavy, and the work of caring for the Earth can feel urgent and exhausting. Jewish tradition reminds us that joy is not frivolous but sustaining. Hanukkah is filled with joy: songs, games, fried foods, time with people we love.

If you pray, remember those who advocate for change with policymakers & people in power. Climate action takes various shapes, as we've seen throughout these Advent posts. Speaking truth to power is a sometimes lonely, necessary, courageous act of faith. #adventcalendar #climateaction #advocacy

Hanukkah celebrates a moment when something broken was repaired. The Temple, desecrated, was restored. Today, our world needs repair too: ecosystems damaged, trust strained, climate patterns disrupted. Jewish tradition teaches tikkun olam, the sacred work of repairing the world.

For so many of us, it's our daily habit & rhythm to plop ourselves down each evening for an hour (or 2? 5?) of TV, gaming, &/or social media. But Sabbath time is also part of the rhythm of a healthy life. It is indeed both a gift to us & a gift to the world. #adventcalendar #climateaction #sabbath
