Ah, I'm so thrilled to share my debut article for @nytimes.com!!! I am a huge fan of @stephenking.bsky.social and first discovered his work when I saw the 1990 "It" miniseries when I was 11 years old. I started devouring his books after that, and he's been inspiring me as a writer ever since.

I believe empathy is valuable and that movies (and stories in all forms) have the ability to teach it to us, if we’ll let them. They allow us to step outside of ourselves and see life from other perspectives.

Marta was stunning. She was looking at me there. I was a child squealing at how adorable she was and standing by with treats and snuggles. How lucky am I that I was her human. My heart is just bursting with joy and love for her still.

I braved my first ever Black Friday for a Taylor Swift book, album, and CD. This is the Anthology that has her song “Robin” on it. 😉 I never thought Black Friday sounded fun, but this was a great experience. I met some kind Swifties in line, got what I wanted, and enjoyed myself!

Happy Thanksgiving, dear friends! Here’s a fun little memory…I’m throwing it back to my college days when I was Charlotte Church’s dancer in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I was in a butterfly costume and learned choreography to her performance of “Carrickfergus”…I loved every moment of it.

Today I woke up feeling hopeful and more like myself. I have a lot to do today, but I like to make "Get To Do" lists. That way, I don't have to keep worrying about forgetting to do something. hah So that's what I'm going to do, then get started on my day.

This week has been an emotional roller coaster soaring between feeling awful, like a burden to the world, pretty much the worst I've ever been, broken, terrible, and then okay (for a minute). Then the cycle begins again. I've done much work on myself, and I know things will be fine. It's just hard.

I don't follow anyone who has hunting or fishing in their bio. If one enjoys killing other sentient beings so much they need to boast about it as one of the primary things about themselves, they're just not my kind of people. Torturing and killing animals for fun is extremely disturbing behavior.

Thank you so much for joining me here in my little corner of Blue Sky. I haven't even been a full week, and it's already my favorite social media. I love the kind vibes and community. Today I felt the excitement of new possibilities. So much is up in the air, but am hopeful.

I am very worried about someone I love and am trying not to spiral. My heart beats as though in rhythm with a physical ache. My spirit feels weighed down by a blanket of bricks. My mind feels like it's just flopping around trying to make sense of anything. But, other than that, life is okay.

I'm feeling really sad today, but I'm grateful for coping skills. I self-soothed, went to therapy, and tried to show up for myself. But some days are just hard, and this is one of them. I have learned to allow myself the feelings that come, knowing that they aren't forever and aren't facts.
