This is Plissken. One of our naughty dogs dug him up the other day when it was freezing outside. My wife brought him in and gave him a little home until the weather got warmer and he could be released to find a burrow for winter. Release video in comment. Southeast Minnesota.

Ring-necked Pheasant.... My 1st time spotting this stunningly beautiful bird. He stood at the roadside, gleaming with iridescence. A few shots as he turned into the grass, getting about a foot in the grass and his rear plumage made him disappear. Sony A7rM4a. Sony FE200-600G. Southeast Minnesota

The Sandhill Cranes are migrating through southeast Minnesota right now. Around 75 were foraging in the corn and bean fields, filling up to continue their journey. They are my favourite bird cal of all. True dinosaur! Sony a7rM4a. Sony FE200-609G.

Last Friday started with a thick fog hanging all along the Mississippi river here in southeast Minnesota. I tried to get above it all to photograph the inversion effect but the bluffs weren't high enough. Heading down to the river, I spotted a pair of misty Bald eagles. As the sky cleared, a Heron

Took a little detour after dropping off my recycling. Dropped into a place called Weaver boat landing. I've witnessed hundreds of pelicans at this spot plus numerous Bald eagles. Today, not much. Just a beautiful view and a wonderful monument. #minnesota

Happy today to get my Jeep back after its altercation with a ten point white tail deer a couple of weeks ago. A bit of a drive to get to the best body shop around, but a HUGE thank you to Winona Chrysler/Jeep/Ford, Bill and his body shop team.

I hate shopping at Walmart, but we don't have a lot of options within an hour's drive. Came out smiling though, when I saw this good dog patiently waiting for its chauffeur. Southeast Minnesota.

Dew-Bee-ous...... While taking the dogs around their yard today, I came upon a dewy bee, slowly coming from its chilly slumber. No time to go and grab the camera and macro lens, so a few shots with the phone.

Successful Harvest.... Our local Canada Goose plantation had a successful year again. Over 500 sprouted in this field and eventually ripened and flew away. 😁 Migration is crazy right now down here in the bluffs of the Mississippi river valley in southeast Minnesota.

Male Bald Eagle..... How do I know it's a male? Because the female was on another branch. She was 25% larger but obscured by the tree trunk. It was hot (82f/28c)and she had precious food, so I didn't want to risk scaring them and making them lose it. Sony A7RM4A. Sony FE200-600G. Sony FEx1.4tcon.

A beautiful morning over the Mississippi river one morning last week. I saw two Bald Eagles on a small beach. I crouched behind a wall, and was just about to start filming. Then a car pulled up and two noisy w⚓s got out and rushed to the wall, disturbing the eagles. #minnesota

Two days of repair, test, repair, test again, swear, repair, test again. The pond is now up and running for 2025.

Noodle heading home. We've finished our repairs and the pond seems to be running nicely. Noodle can have the garden to itself now.

Noodle Fren.... We are replacing a bit of cracked pipe for our waterfall and we're visited by a noodle. She has a home under the steps leading to the deck. We shuffled her back to her home and we're getting the repair done as quickly as possible.

My Golden Alexander bloomed today. A second season. I'll be leaving this one for another year before splitting it down to spread into my pollinator. I will harvest the seeds to germinate too. #Minnesota #bloomscrolling

Our boy is feeling a bit down today. He's been off his food and lethargic so we did the bland food diet to clear him out. Took him in and he had dropped 16lbs. Today the vet removed a fist-sized intestinal tumour and a foot of intestine. Lots of fluffy cuddles for him for a while. #AlaskanMalamute

Spring is definitely springing here in Minnesota. This cherry tree is in its 5th season now. It had its first ever pruning to clear overlapping branches and allow light and air through. Last year it fed wildlife and STILL yielded 5lbs of fruit for us. #bloomscrolling

Went looking for action at one of my Peregrine sites today, but nothing. A nearby boat landing allowed me to meet a Red Winged Blackbird that was feeding on the duckweed.

I'm enjoying not watching any national news. I did this the last time the orange shitgibbon was in & it helped me survive what now seems like 4 uneventful years. This time around though... Anyway. Some #bloomscrolling to help you through your day. More native species from our re-wilding project.

Friday #scape day Taken one chilly morning a few years ago near one of the locks and dams along the Mississippi river in southeast Minnesota. I love the serenity in this part of the valley. It's not hard to feel a connection with nature here.
