EVRART CLAIRE - ”What?!” He smacks his forehead, completely flabbergasted. ”Harry... how could you say that to me? You know I appreciate a joke as much as any jolly fat guy, but I can't take *slander*. Are you actually investigating this?”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”No, you didn't.” He waves you off with a chuckle. ”I know the mail-man, Harry. I know everyone and everything that happens in this town and I *know* there's no letter in that mailbox yet.”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”Please, have a seat.” He gestures to a *tiny* folding chair -- opposite to his giant desk.

EVRART CLAIRE - ”*If* she actually wants to see me, she will find a way. Any good negotiator would. And I just don't have anything to discuss with a bad negotiator.”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”We're not gonna give nothing. We're gonna *take* Terminal B away from them: the roads, the gates, the containers, that big crane... even the damn coffee maker. We're gonna take all of it for the people -- and *fuck* Wild Pines.”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”No, no, Harry, what we have is real. We're working men. This here...” He taps his chest, then points to you. ”... is *real*.”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”There was no fine print, Harry.” He leans forward. ”But I do hope all that construction noise and limited street access *encourages* some people to move. After a year of that ruckus, who wouldn't?”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”Don't beat yourself up, Harry. What you did was participate in history. When history calls, you *have* to pick up. You had no choice. None of us ever do. A hard disco cop like you -- I knew you weren't one to resist temptation.”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”I bet it did, I bet it did.” He laughs, but his laughter is void of joy. ”I guess what matters is that my message got across.”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”Tribunal?” He appears aghast. ”That sounds *serious* Harry. We Union men should be *shitting* ourselves...” He rubs his chin and smiles suddenly: ”I wish you hadn't told me that. I'm gonna lose *sleep* over this. Let's change the subject.”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”You're saying it, but I don't believe you. You know how it is -- company snitches, *agent provocateurs* everywhere... I'm barricaded in this fortress of mine, and I need to get a message out. Will you help me?”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”Yes, if you start thinking about it like *that*, the socialist municipal body sort of is like a corporation, isn't it? It uses corporate law -- we're incorporated. I like to think we're using the best parts of *all* the ideologies here, Harry.”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”Now that is *funky*, Harry.” He rubs his big hands together. ”You are a colourful fellow, not a boring stiff like this deceitful folder here implies.”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”Sure, okay. You're Harold. Harman. Haroldemus. But that's not what the record says. The record says 'Harry Du Bois'.” He taps on the folder. ”A real *man's* name. ”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”Of course, let us dispatch with the formalities, you call me Evrart, I call you Harry!”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”By all means, Harry. What's on your mind?”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”Tribunal?” He appears aghast. ”That sounds *serious* Harry. We Union men should be *shitting* ourselves...” He rubs his chin and smiles suddenly: ”I wish you hadn't told me that. I'm gonna lose *sleep* over this. Let's change the subject.”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”By now I'm *sure* you've figured out who the dead man was working for -- the bad guys. Wild Pines. Sent to scare us. Another *violent measure* of the top hats against us flat caps.”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”I doubt you'll learn anything from that fishing rod.”

EVRART CLAIRE - He grins slightly wider than usual, pleased to know that you follow the rules of business etiquette.

EVRART CLAIRE - His look goes from steely to inquisitive. A broad, self-satisfied grin crosses his wide face. You hear the wet smack of his lips.

EVRART CLAIRE - ”Please, Mr. Du Bois, let us converse in a civilized manner, as equals. Take a seat -- I insist.”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”Now, what can Evrart Claire do for you today?”

EVRART CLAIRE - ”Oh, I can imagine that. Lizzie is tenacious like a little pitbull. Underneath the law degree and sophistication, she's still a Martinaisian through and through.”
