The final day of #AIIC392 Assembly just ended, with many important votes - on budget and dues, on new membership categories, and on our future structure! It's been a busy meeting, and definitely worth engaging in, as it will affect #AIIC for the upcoming years.

On day 2 of our hybrid #AIIC392 Assembly we are discussing and voting on resolutions and amendments that will affect #AIIC for the rest of the triennium and beyond. It's been a very productive day!

The business of #AIIC392 is moving ahead, electing members of committees and now moved on to amendments and resolutions. We couldn't do it at all without all the volunteer interpreters that are taking part on site, attached to Zoom. I certainly needed them when Spanish was spoken!

At #AIIC329 we are paying respects to all our members who passed since January. In particular, we remember Christopher Thiery, founding member and honorary president, who has had a long and illustrious career. I remember interpreting him at #AIIC 's 50th anniversary. He was a great man.

On day 235 of Duolingo Chinese, and suddenly the lesson number I was on became way more advanced... I had to go back an entire section - and now they also present it very differently, so am playing catch up. Did this happen to anyone else?

I don't know why, but I didn't check before I left home. Trains are striking. Again. I could walk home (15 mins) to wait 30 mins (20 by now) and walk back or sit in the sun and read...

I am feeling virtuous. After 25 years of living in 1 place, we will move to a smaller place next year. And the removal of old, unnecessary, hoarded items has already begun! Unlike taxes (yeah, tell me *you* don't wait until the last minute), we've started a full year early! Let the fun begin!

Am feeling quite proud of myself (AmEn "quite" NOT BrEn...). Just finished book 2 of The Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu. I read book 1 last year, and will probably read 3 next year. It's an interesting (and true) world to be submerged in, but not 3 books in a row - at least not for me!

Back from #AIICLima25 with indelible memories of Lima!

I was today years old when I learned (from Mary Fons at #AIICLima25) that you can restrict searches online to specific websites by adding "site:site.extension" - for example "DDC site:aiic.org" How useful!

Luckily enough, I was able to go to a monument among restaurants in Lima during #AIICLima25 - Astrid y Gastón - and had an amazing meal. More than 1 table was filled with Assembly groups...

The #AIICLima25 Assembly is wrapping up today. We have not been able to vote on everything on the agenda this week, but will keep on working in the future FOR the future of the profession.

At #AIICLima25 we were very frustrated by the voting system. Voting on several resolutions was postponed. The external provider has stepped up to the plate, and worked on the system overnight. 🤞for today!

The Cambridge Conference Interpretation Course #CCIC had a reunion cocktail while at #AIICLima25. There had to be 25 of us throughout the evening, along with at least a other 5 who couldn't make it.! Thanks to everyone who came!

Talking about outreach, social media, and messaging from #AIIC on social media at #AIICLima2025 This kind of messaging requires a LOT of effort to stay on top of posts, comments, and questions. But it's so worth it! (Said as a person who has been working on AIIC's social media for years...)

At #AIICLima25, during votes on resolutions & amendments is the only time we ever hear silence in a roomful of interpreters, because our rules require that we not speak to each other. Otherwise, when we go for the coffee break, you are hit by a wall of sound 😱

The local organizers of #AIICLima2025 have found a lovely venue for the meeting. And the Assembly organizers are making sure we have many short breaks throughout the day, along with a healthy lunch. Which means our networking is certainly facilitated!

So, how many of us at #AIICLima2025 are following using all the documents, just as we would if we were working as interpreters?

Day 1 of #AIICLima2025 official meeting. We are an association of conference #interpreters #conf1nt , and our Assembly is conducted exactly as any GA of an intl org. Roberts Rules of Order, conference terminology, majorities...

The Gala opening of #AIICLima2025 took place at the #HuacaPucilana, where we saw (and tasted) more potato varieties than even the Belgians have seen, against a stunning backdrop. We got to see colleagues we haven't seen in person for years - if ever!

At the #AIIC #intersectoral at #AIICLima2025 AIIC is run via regions & sectors: everyone belongs to 1 region, but may work in more than 1 sector. For ex, I work in the Private Market, UN, & Coordinated Organization sectors but am based in the Belgian region. We are talking commonalities now.

at #PRIMSinLima #AIICPRIMSinLima, the new Standing Committee has been elected! I am very much looking forward to the program put forward by the committee!

At #PRIMSinLima #AIICPRIMSinLima, we have a presentation from the AI Workstream from the Science Hub. If you are a member, and you have direct clients, I really recommend you check these tools out. I am seriously impressed!

At #PRIMSinLima #AIICPRIMSinLima, and during the main #AIICAssembly we have volunteer interpreters - huge thanks to them!

Now information on the South American Region in #AIIC at #PRIMSinLima #AIICPRIMSinLima This is only the 2nd Assembly in Latin America. The 1st was in Buenos Aires in 2012.

As one candidate for re-election at the #PRIMSinLima #AIICPRIMSinLima quite rightly says: without data on the #ROI that interpreting brings, we cannot compete effectively.
