Imagine the banality of a university where the only ratified areas of study are ‘complex analysis’ and ‘critical thinking’. Thinking about what? We have already seen what happens when we unleash a cadre of overrated, narrowly-educated adolescents whose only thought is of their own exceptionalism.

I'm not expert on these matters... having read an article where the author berates the field for not acknowledging their contribution to the field (in so many words) their article includes 30% self-citation. I know average %s vary depending on the field and status of the academic but seems odd to me

🧵It was a pleasure to write this with Laetitia and she was very much the architect of this book. I’m glad I could contribute to it. It was also uncomfortable to write as we came to arguments and conclusions that we think will provoke. A short extract ...

🧵We have tried to discuss social justice and Higher Education by considering the role of language ontology, of ethics and social theory, and of pedagogy. We use social semiotics and Bourdieu's field theory to address these issues.
