The newest stable version of ScummVM has been released. Among numerous improvements, the program now natively supports game data from Special Editions of Monkey Island 1/2, meaning that you can now play classic version of these games with speech without having to build "Ultimate Talkie" versions.

I still use a 1080p 60Hz LCD monitor from 2012. Thinking about upgrading it, and feeling I might actually prefer 1440p over 4K. The ability to integer scale DOS games from 320x200 to 1600x1200 to preserve intended 4:3 aspect ratio is appealing, and a 4K monitor would display them in a small window.

I like the music in Joe Montana Football for Sega Genesis, but unfortunately the composers in that game are uncredited. Turns out that the IBM PC (DOS) version of the game uses the same music compositions and composers are actually credited right on the title screen along with other developers.

Playing the playtest demo of RACCOIN: Coin Pusher Roguelike, it's fascinating how in this game you either lose or utterly break the game with no survivors, with no in-between outcome possible.

Got some play time out of my New Nintendo 3DS XL after some time and, wow, what an ergonomics nightmare is this thing. I like Its numerous improvements over the original 3DS model, but it is pretty much impossible for me to hold the system correctly when actively using its D-pad.

An evil antisocial idea: make your SNES homebrew constantly make calls to the ST018 co-processor as a means of copy protection, so that your game can only be played on emulators and no reproduction cartridges could ever be created without cracking the game.

Ms. Candyman (1983) for [Bally] Astrocade is honestly one of the coolest little games I've seen, yet it is completely unknown to 99% of retro gamers. Fast action, unique enemy graphics, funny death animations, constant color changes, etc. It is very polished, despite being an indie game of its era.

Neo Geo CD loading is something else. I've recently played OverTop, a simple top-down racing game from 1996. The whole game is just a single race which takes around 6 minutes in total. On CD it has to load each individual track section, meaning that you get a loading screen every 20-40 seconds.
